REWARDS FOR REMOVING WEEDS FROM COOMA NORTH GARDENS!
Council has gained grant to provide tip fees and free replacement plants for Cooma North residents genuinely interested in removing Cotoneaster and Firethorn from their gardens! (The main culprit, Cotoneaster, is pictured here!)
The (limited) grant will run each year for 5 years - but if you are interested in participating this year - please fill in the online application form at this link: https://forms.gle/wYES25JSkhAKAZeX6 (Tip 1: Applying this year may be less competitive than future years as the program becomes more widely known.)
The closing date for this year's round is Monday 19th October - but you'll need the time between now and then to plan your proposal as the most impressive efforts are likely to gain the priority funding - although any remaining vouchers will be dispersed through a ‘lucky draw’ among all the remaining applicants. (Tip 2; Applying as a group of neighbours could increase your chances - not to mention ease the load as you can help each other.)
The Reserve's Bushcare group will select the winners and email the awardees their vouchers for the plants and tip fees. Plants will need to be collected at a demonstration day in November at a time and place to be confirmed.
Any project starting from this week is eligible! (So you don't need to wait for the judging before you start - unless you need the green waste tip fee vouchers before you start.)
