Quite the trip through Downs country, Western NSW.

Catching up with volunteers, rural families, doing some mustering and meeting good people helping high school students experience life on the land.

But the dryness is hard to describe. Some places are so dry even the trees are dying. Properties battling wild dogs, maimed sheep around the house yards and families carrying enormous pressure. We also spent time helping out with some running repairs.

We spent a lot of time just listening to bush people and rural families.

The land is doing it tough, but the people are tougher.

We are praying this weather system drops some quality rain, right where it is needed.

National Volunteers Week.
We honestly believe we have some of the best volunteers in the world.
Some travel thousands of kilometres just to spend time with people who are doing it tough. Others quietly serve behind the scenes in our shoppe, warehouse and organising aid.
Many give their own time, fuel, money and energy simply because they care.
Without people like that, we would not exist.
We are deeply grateful for every one of them.

Stories from the bush.

A few years ago, one of our teams was visiting a property out in the bush. While they were there, they gathered around the dining table praying with the family.

During that time, someone knocked on the door.

One of our team members answered it and found it was the farmer’s wife’s brother standing there holding a large envelope in his hand.

Our team member asked him, “Are you alright?”

He replied, “Yeah, I’m alright.”

But something didn’t seem right.

He was asked again, “Are you really alright?”

Again he said he was.

Then one more time, gently, he was asked if he was okay.

That’s when he burst into tears.

Eventually he opened up and shared that he had come to see his sister and leave her some paperwork. He told the team he was planning to go back to his farm and end his life.

There were a lot of tears that day.

Our team spent time with him, listened to him, prayed with him, and supported him. The team felt it wasn’t a good idea for him to return to the farm alone, so they invited him to stay with them in town.

What looked like just another property visit turned into an incredible divine appointment.

Sometimes simply showing up, caring, listening, and asking one more time can make all the difference.

Teams have been coming and going over these past few weeks—with more still on the way.

And honestly, we’re blown away.

We have some of the best volunteers. The way you show up, serve, and give of yourselves makes a real difference where it matters most.

It doesn’t go unnoticed. We see it. We value it. And we’re incredibly grateful.

What do you do when everyone else walks away?
When we first started, it was at a time when many churches were pulling out of the West—especially the Outback. For many, it had just become too hard.
In the middle of the drought, this left a deep sense of disappointment toward the church and Christian organisations.

We knew trust wouldn’t come back overnight. It took years.
So we simply stayed. We loved people. We showed up—again and again.
And slowly, hearts began to open… Not to us only—but to the things of the Lord.

A big heartfelt thank you to everyone who has volunteered and supported this ministry over the years—you’ve made this journey possible 🙏

Stories from the bush.

Testimony from Bob & Kay (Area Coordinators for Care Outreach)

Christian farmers in Kaimkillenbun shared this remarkable story with us.
They are usually sorghum farmers but had decided to plant wheat as a diversification, and their entire crop was ready for harvest.
It was storm season on the Darling Downs in South East Queensland. That afternoon, a particularly violent storm was building. As often happens in the region, rainfall can be patchy and uneven.
Dry lightning had already struck several times ahead of the storm. The wind was extremely strong, though no rain had yet fallen.
Standing on the back veranda overlooking the fields, the farmer’s wife saw lightning strike the middle of the crop. A fire quickly took hold, spreading through the dry wheat with increasing speed and intensity.
She called her husband immediately to warn him of the unfolding disaster. But there was nothing they could do. All their equipment was set up for harvesting, not firefighting. Aerial support was impossible due to the extreme winds, and emergency help was at least 35–40 minutes away—far too late.
With no other options, they turned to prayer.
Together, they cried out to God, asking him to intervene.
At that very moment, an intense burst of rain fell directly over the fire—right where the flames were burning. It was a sudden, concentrated downpour.
The fire was immediately extinguished.
Their entire crop was saved.
When they later inspected the paddock, they found only a narrow strip of burnt wheat, ending in a small circular patch where the lightning had struck. Though the wind had driven the fire, it had also limited its spread.
They rejoiced in God’s provision, recognising they had witnessed a miracle.
Another story of God’s amazing care for those who love Him.

After our most recent trip out west, we were able to help in some really practical ways—fixing homes, cleaning out flood-damaged community buildings and helping with fencing for families on the land.

But more than anything, we were reminded that the road back is still long.

For many graziers, farmers and small communities, the impact of last year’s floods hasn’t just gone away. There’s still a lot to rebuild—physically, financially and emotionally.

We’re grateful we could play a small part, but there’s more to be done. These communities and families matter and they’re worth sticking with for the long haul.
