Following our 2025 pilot in Magandjin / Brisbane, DANCE LEADS TO CHAOS is hitting the road for its first Queensland tour — across Magandjin, Noosa, Caloundra and Gimuy.

A community-engaged dance theatre work by Bring A Plate ~ Inclusive Dance Company & The First Creatives Dance Leads to Chaos invites audiences to question the significance of dance in our lives.

Inspired by historic restrictions on dance and artistic expression from around the world, the work draws on Australians’ recent experience of COVID-19 dance restrictions, to remind us that restrictions on dance and gathering have a much longer and brutal history for First Nations people in this country.

Moving across contemporary, cultural and street dance forms, professional dance artists are joined by local Community Casts in each location in a call to return to our basic human need to move, gather and express ourselves — led by the oldest living culture in the world.

Part dance work, part public service announcement — expect dance, storytelling, music, projection and yes, probably a little chaos.

A special milestone for us 🖤

This year marked The First Creatives very first performance at Musgrave during NAIDOC Week — a place that has always been so significant to our people, our communities and our celebrations of culture.

To be able to dance, surrounded by mob, sharing our stories through movement, was something we’ll never forget. Thank you to everyone who shared this moment with us. It is one we won’t forget.

We can’t wait to bring Musgrave more Aboriginal Contemporary dance next year 🫶🏾

This week, The First Creatives had the privilege of pitching Ya’djin Spirit Women at QShowcase by QTouring ✨

Sharing this work with presenters, producers and fellow artists from across Qld was an opportunity to speak about more than a performance—it was about sharing First Nations women’s stories, honouring our Ancestors, and creating space for truth-telling, strength and healing through contemporary First Nations performance.

To everyone who took the time to watch, connect and yarn with us, thank you. Your support means so much.

We are incredibly proud of this work and excited for the journey ahead. We can’t wait to bring Ya’djin Spirit Women to more communities across the Country.
