🚨 URGENT CALL TO ACTION FOR BLACK COCKATOOS 🚨
The recent arrival of avian influenza in Australia has changed everything.
For more than 18 months, Kaarakin has been working towards securing a dedicated Black Cockatoo Hospital and expanded biosecurity facilities. What was once an important conservation project has now become an urgent necessity.
The reality is that this disease poses a significant threat to Western Australia's endangered black cockatoos. For the critically endangered Baudin's Black Cockatoo, the stakes could not be higher. We must act now to ensure we have the facilities, resources and disease response capability needed to protect these birds.
This is why we are calling for a $15 million investment in black cockatoo conservation infrastructure, including:
🦜 A dedicated Black Cockatoo Hospital
🦜 Biosecure quarantine and treatment facilities
🦜 Influenza-resistant aviaries
🦜 Enhanced rehabilitation and release infrastructure
🦜 Disease testing and monitoring capability
🦜 Access to avian influenza vaccines when available

We also ask you to consider making a tax-deductible donation before the end of the financial year. Every dollar helps Kaarakin prepare for the challenges ahead and strengthens our ability to protect and care for black cockatoos when they need us most.
Kaarakin is Australia's only organisation solely dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, conservation and release of black cockatoos. As avian influenza reaches Australia, the need for dedicated facilities and disease preparedness has never been greater.
Every email matters. Every donation matters. Every supporter matters.
Please share this post widely and help us build the support needed to secure the future of Western Australia's black cockatoos.
Together, we can make sure these remarkable birds are still flying across our skies for generations to come.
