QCWA Cooktown

QCWA Cooktown The CWA is the largest women's organisation in Australia. Local participation can also include fundraising at events to sharing delicious recipes too!

Its aims are to improve the conditions for country women and children and to try to make life better for women and their families, especially those women living in rural and remote Australia. In addition to this the CWA supports many charities and local community projects as well as providing material aid to Asia Pacific Countries. As a member of the Country Womens Association there are an endless

number of ways you can be involved with your community. Each state or territory manages their own office, and acts as a guide for CWA branches across that state. From getting involved in projects, campaigning on issues or becoming part of an interest group, the Cooktown CWA Branch offers a diverse range of opportunities. By getting in contact with your state office you can find out what's happening near you at your local branch and become part of an organisation that continues to build friendships and communities across Australia.

One night only in Cooktown. 'More than Tea and Scones' celebrates the women of CWA (including Cooktown CWA soup kitchen).
Light refreshments and drinks available, via cash donation to the Cooktown Soup Kitchen. A donation box will be on the table.
CWA Cooktown will also be selling merchandise including our newly printed CWA Cooktown stubby coolers.
Saturday 3rd June at the Cooktown Shire Hall.
Bar and refreshments will be open from 6pm with the show starting at 6.30pm'

QCWA Cooktown will be holding our 100-year celebrations on Saturday 15th of October at our Charlotte St Hall. We will be holding a free morning tea, 1920's games, cutting of the Centenary cake, a history of Cooktown CWA, condiments etc for sale as well as a lucky door prize and a raffle. We will be holding our celebration in our now usable garden area which through various funding and hard work has become a reality. Everybody is welcome to come along and celebrate and yes, we will have scones with jam and cream!!!

Awesome day yesterday catering for Shire Hall opening. This grand old icon of Cooktown has been restored and saved and we were honoured to be there to cater the afternoon tea of sweet and savoury dishes. And of course scones and jam and cream. Comments were made about the 'good old fashioned spread'! A very special day and thanks to all who cooked and helped out on the day❤
