Yesterday at Careers Day, we gave students a taste of what it might feel like to one day walk across the stage in a graduation gown and cap. 🎓

The excitement was contagious, with students jumping in, trying on the gowns and caps, asking questions, and embracing the opportunity to imagine their future pathways. Whether their dreams lead them to university, TAFE, an apprenticeship, or another form of study, it was wonderful to see them thinking about what’s possible.

The future is looking bright for Cooktown, and we loved being part of a day that encouraged students to dream big, explore their options, and start thinking about the pathways that can help turn those dreams into reality.

A huge thank you to the Careers Day organisers and everyone involved in making the event such a success. We were grateful to be part of such a fantastic day and to share the many study and career pathways available to our young people.

🎉 Guess the Career Competition 🎉

At Careers Day this Thursday 11th, Country Universities Centre Cape York will be hosting a ✨Guess the Careers Competition!✨

School students will be given a series of clues about different careers and will need to guess what job is being described. Each year level will have its own category so everyone has a fair chance to take part.

🏆 One winner from each grade will be selected, and those winners will go into a draw to win a $150 Cooktown Riverbend Tour Voucher!

Winners will be announced on our page after the event.

Another great CUC Cape York Coffee Catch-Up this morning ☕📚

Current students, future students, past students, and those simply thinking about studying are always welcome to come along. There's no agenda, no pressure—just good conversation, support, and a chance to connect with others on a similar journey.

Today's topics included books, study memories, universities, pigs, llamas, crocodiles, Aldi, electric fencing and plenty of good old-fashioned chit-chat and laughs. As always, the conversation went in directions none of us expected!

A big thank you to Shipwrecked for hosting us. The food was fantastic, the coffee was flowing, and the setting overlooking the water is one of the best spots in Cooktown to sit, relax, and catch up.

A huge thank you to all the organisers for putting together such a wonderful community event. Our Centre staff had an amazing time getting involved and connecting with so many families.
