Dusty is a 12 years old boy walking 540km from Warren to Canberra to raise $1 million for Little Wings so they can Fly more Pediatricians to the bush and hopes to have a meeting with Albo.

Today Clare and her right hand man Matty, headed to Tottenham to collect an amazing donation of disability equipment from an incredibly generous family.

Over the next week, the CaAS team will be reaching out to our local remote area planners, providers and fellow support coordinators to ensure these items find deserving homes with underfunded or needy participants.

We are so grateful to be able to help with this project.

A reminder that the Australian Census is due to be completed between 11 August and 14 August next week.

The government have announced that not completing this may result in a fine of up to $364 per day.

If you need any help with the process, please reach out to your Support Coordinator or Support Worker THIS WEEK. That way, we can arrange a suitable time to sit down with you and help you complete it before the deadline.

🌟 Team Shout Out: Ollie! 🌟

Support Coordination is not always easy. Rarely does a day go by when only one participant needs immediate attention. There are often complex, sensitive, and sometimes confronting conversations to navigate, all while balancing the needs and goals of multiple people.

This is why I am so proud of our CaAS team. The dedication, compassion, and commitment they bring to every participant and provider interaction is incredible. They give their all each day and then come back ready to do it all again tomorrow.

Yesterday, after a series of challenging negotiations on behalf of a participant, Ollie received some very special feedback while leaving a home visit:

💬 "In all honesty, Ollie, you are the best Support Coordinator I have ever had."

Well done, Ollie. You work so hard to support the goals of the clients and to protect their wishes and interests. This feedback is so well deserved, and I hope it serves as a reminder of just how much of an impact you have, especially on those tricky client days.

It’s been a day or two since we’ve done a “meet the team.”

Meet Demi, one of our amazing Support Coordinators. Demi’s clients believe that her lived experience navigating the NDIS give her a genuine ability to understand and connect. You will find Demi working with clients in Condo, Lake Cargelligo and Tullibigeal areas.

There are a few things Demi would like you to know –

As a proud Condo local, I have a strong connection to the community and a good understanding of the people and supports in the area 🤍

One of the things I love most about support coordination is helping participants and families navigate the NDIS in a way that feels less overwhelming and more achievable.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me at the gym, spending time with family and friends, or enjoying the outdoors.
I’m down-to-earth, approachable, and a real people person. I value building genuine relationships and being someone participants feel comfortable reaching out to—especially when things get tough.

For me, support coordination is all about advocating for people, building confidence, and supporting participants to reach their goals and become more independent. Seeing that growth is what makes it all so rewarding ✨

How do the CaAS team ensure we provide you the best service we can?

Every month we hold dedicated training for the whole team. This is a chance for staff up-skill, problem solve issues and a time for team building.

This month, we renewed our first aid certificates. Bec's kids are hoping Dad is home if they ever need a bandage and Fiona is disappointed no-one mummified Ollie, but over all I'd call the afternoon a success 🙌

There are so many proposed changes out there, resulting in so much fear within both participant families and providers. The Growing Space is conducting an informed webinar to walk you through exactly what is happening. What fears can be laid to rest, what do you actually need to prepare for.

😨 So many proposed NDIS Changes... it's A LOT to take in.
🌪️ There are still so many unknowns, and it can feel like everything is dumping on us right now.

👩 Sam’s live peer workshop will explain the law in our new NDIS: “The Law, Changes and Your Plan” to help you feel in more control over your plan.

👇 10 things the government said they want to do:

1. ⬇ Participant numbers to drop, a lot

2. 🪚 Community access budgets to be cut

3. ❗ Mandatory registration for personal care

4. 📋 Plan management and support coordination to be commissioned and to cost 30% less

5. ❌ Unspent funds to not roll over in plan extensions

6. ☹ Unscheduled reassessments harder to get

7. 📝 Everyone’s eligibility to be checked from 2028

8. 📉 NDIS budget to slow right down

9. 🕵 More fraud and integrity work

10. 💰 A new Inclusive Communities Fund
