Our March musical mayhem culminated in Choir Leader Choir – gathering choir leaders from the far flung reaches of Greater Melbourne to sing, play and fill their hearts led by the inimitable Stephen Taberner. Keep an eye out for upcoming sessions!

Thanks Stephen for the giggles, John and Michelle at the Body Voice Centre for your hospitality and Bridget A'Beckett for inspiration and assistance!

Our inaugural BandJAM on 15 March was an absolute hoot with 75 participants and audience grooving to tunes from New Orleans to the Balkans. A huge thank you to our amazing MD Loz Irwin-Ray; fabulous tutors: Basil Byrne, Elliot Lamb, Jacey Ashton; and exciting bands and their fearless leaders:
👉 Tom Williams (Krysalis Band, Merri-Bek City Bands)
👉 Caitlin French & Talia ### (Black Sea ensemble)
👉 Peter Hinton (Sunshine Street Band)
👉 Daniel "Sully" Sullivan (Riff Raff Radical Marching Band)

We're already cooking up the next one, BandJAMers - look out for your feedback survey in your inbox!

Here's a look back at Choir Jam Macedon Ranges a couple of weeks ago! Around 100 singers gathered in Kyneton to celebrate the joy that we all get from singing together.

Thank you to Chris Roache, Tara Flinn and Andrew Price for leading the workshop, and thanks to the wonderful host choirs for their performances 🎵

This free event was made possible by Community Music Victoria & Helen Macpherson Smith Trust as part of their Growing Community Music project and supported by Macedon Ranges Shire Council.

The amazing Windborne absolutely blew us away last week! We'd like to thank them for coming to Melbourne and sharing their gorgeous music with us. This isn't your last chance to see them - they'll be at the Blue Mountains Music Festival this weekend, then on to Yackandandah Folk Festival, and the National Folk Festival up in Canberra!

What is BandJAM? 🎺

Community bands of different sizes, flavours and experience, come together to show’n’tell their fav tunes, and teach a couple of jammable licks that combine bands and individuals into one massive joyful ensemble.

You can expect to:
– hear tunes showcased by exciting local community bands
– explore ways to join in “instantly”
– learn new tunes / arrangements from inspiring tutors
– play together as one mega-band
– meet community: other keen music-makers & exciting bands

🤔 Do I need to be part of a community band to participate in this event?
Absolutely not! Individuals are more than welcome.

🤔 Am I a good enough musician to come along?
All levels of experience and ability will be welcome and catered for.

🤔 What kind of instrument do I need?
All instruments are welcome! Even if you don't have one - there will be singing, dancing, and possibly even a few percussion instruments up for grabs.
