29th August 2026

The last weekend of winter wasn't exactly balmy, but it was pretty tolerable, all things considered. 40 dedicated parkrunners and parkwalkers agreed as they turned up to enjoy two laps of the river. Warmest of welcomes to our visitors Alex, Brittany, Hannes, Dominque, Luke, and Ariene. We hope you had a great time and wish you safe travels as you head home or on further adventures.

Welcome also to first time parkrunning locals, Own and Matthew. It should be noted that Matthew is a regular at parkrun but this was the first time he was able to walk and run the entire two laps with Mum. Well done Matthew; you will be sprinting around with Mum before we know it.

Speaking of speedsters, it looks like it was quite the battle at the front of the pack today with Angus and Steele both recording new PB's with only 3 seconds separating them. Congratulations to you both and to our other speedsters Mack, Angus, Billy, Maire (and Sage), Afie, and Paul. That is a fabulous achievement and is certainly never easy.

Today Mat clocked up his 10th parkrun to be our milestone runner today. Off the course, we also wish Kirsten and Clint all the best for their wedding today; we look forward to seeing you back at parkrun soon and hearing all about your day!

Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers. Well done Dana on your first Run Director gig; you are a natural! A huge thanks to Lisa who is taking a break from hiking the Bib Track and used that down time to volunteer with us today; we hope the blisters settle quickly and you are heading south again soon. Thanks to all of our other volunteers too. Sue • Jayne • Leone • Allison • Murray • Kaye • Brian • Matthew • Mick and Sam. Parkrun wouldn't have happened without you!

Collie River Trail parkrun
Event #346
22nd August 2026

This week 44 people ran, jogged and walked the course. We had a whopping 14 first timers who braved a Collie visit in the coldest months. Although it wasn't as chilly as it has been we still commend Augustin, Calum, Tim, Michel, Joanne, Anna, Kim, Chris, Lily, James, Peter, Harold, Julie, and Summer for venturing this way in winter. We hope you all enjoyed your morning. Safe travels for those who are heading home today and we hope those of you who are staying a little longer have a fabulous time, be it exploring the trails, checking out the murals or just relaxing a little.

Well done to our four speedsters today. Congratulations to Michael, Brian, Paul, and Dana for achieving personal best times today. A few other shout outs are needed. Happy Birthday to Beth on Monday and our very best wishes to Kirsten and Clint for their upcoming wedding next weekend. Also well done to Alison, who was the only one who remembered it is the 22nd today which means it is a tutu parkrun. Doh! I know there were a few people planning on digging out the tutus but, like me, forgot this morning. You rocked it Alison!

One final shout out goes to Wazza, who has been a truly stalwart volunteer since Collie parkrun started. He has marshalled so often that we refer to one of our mashalling spots as "Wazza's rock". After 249 volunteers, Wazza is heading off to Perth this week. We hope you will be able to come back to visit us and notch up that 250th soon Wazza but please know we are truly grateful for all you have contributed to our parkrun community over the past 7 years.

The event was made possible by 14 volunteers. Our thanks goes to Tamsin • Sue • Jayne • Allison • Murray • Warren • Kaye • Matthew • Jenny • Shane • Alison • Mick • Leanne and Matilda.

Happy birthday to us!

It was freezing this morning but, thankfully, the rain kept away. This week 38 people turned up to run, jog or walk the course whilst celebrating our 7th birthday. We were thrilled to welcome Caleb to your first run here. Hopefully you will get to join us often whilst you are in town.

There were a few celebratory efforts worth noting today. On the milestone front, Alison clocked up her 25th parkrun, officially joining the purple shirt brigade. Obviously not showing any effects of his speedy and hilly half marathon last weekend, Angus led us around the course this morning to achieve a new PB. Our other speedsters this week were Nat and Dana. Congratulations to all of you for fantastic efforts!

Tamsin did mention it at the briefing but congratulations to Eric and Steve who are out at Lake Towerriining this weekend competing in Birdy's Backyard. Unfortunately, the rain (and hail) has not missed them! We hope you are both happy with your efforts and proud of what you have both achieved; we are in absolute awe! I think I can safely say that the huge majority of us could not even contemplate the distances you are achieving! Also, since last parkrun, Caity and Terresa popped up to Perth to knock over another half and a big crew of Collie locals headed to Kojonup, to run 5, 10 or 21km in the Run for Resilience (aka Fat Farmers) to raise awareness around mental health in rural communities.

Parkrun tiday was made possible by 13 volunteers. Our sincerest thanks go to Toby • Caity • Tamsin • Sue • Jayne • Leone • Allison • Warren • Kaye • Kathy • Jenny • Alison and Kate.
