People have been doing burnouts on the road to the Airport. While this may seem like fun, rubber and wire from tyres was recently found on the airstrip after high winds.
In the aviation industry this can cause FOD (Foreign Object Damage) i.e. blown tyres, seized wheels, propellor damage, being sucked into jets etc. Any of these occurences can have deadly consequences to a plane landing or taking off.
It's also not a good first impression for a town promoting tourism to what could be some of our most distinguished visitors flying into Collie.
The Collie Aero Club has cleaned the road and installed cameras with number plate recognition.
