Where Music Lives and Creativity Flourishes
www.coffscon.org.au Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium is THE place where music lives!

Since its formation in 1984, thousands of students have enrolled for lessons, courses, ensembles and workshops at the Conservatorium or within school-based programs managed by the Conservatorium. Most have achieved a level of proficiency that has enabled them to be involved in music making throughout their lives - some have progressed to the level of professional performers and teachers - all have experienced the joy of music as a form of personal creativity and expression. Located on the mid north coast of NSW, students attend from a wide geographic area - Woolgoolga in the north, to Nambucca Heads south of Coffs Harbour, and inland to Bellingen and Dorrigo. A wide range of music styles and programs are offered, to suit students of all ages, levels of expertise, musical experience and creative aspiration. The Conservatorium is a member of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums, is listed on the Register of Cultural Organisations , and receives operational grants from the NSW Government through the NSW Department of Education and Communities.

STRING CAMP 2026 🎻

Four days of music-making, learning and playing Music together.

String Camp is nearly here, and we’re getting ready to welcome young string players to the Con for four days of rehearsals, ensemble playing, learning and plenty of music.

Students will have the opportunity to work with experienced tutors, develop their playing, build confidence and experience the energy that comes from making music alongside other young musicians.

And beyond the music, it’s a chance to meet new people, make friends and spend four days immersed in something you love.

What a beautiful way to finish the term. 🎶

Friday night’s Ensemble Concert was a wonderful showcase of the talent we have here at the Conservatorium, and of the hard work and dedication our students and teachers have put in throughout the term.

From rehearsals week after week to coming together on stage, it was so lovely to see all that work shared with an audience.

A huge thank you to our wonderful students and teachers, and to everyone who came along to support them and enjoy the evening with us.

Congratulations on a fantastic term of music. ❤️

Meet Belén, our Early Childhood Music teacher in Nambucca Heads 🎶

As we get ready to bring Early Childhood Music to Nambucca Heads, we’d love to introduce you to the wonderful Belén Méndez, who will be leading our classes.

Belén brings a unique background in theatre, education and storytelling to her Early Childhood Music teaching. Originally trained as an actress in Argentina, her approach brings together music, movement, voice, storytelling and play to create an engaging environment for young children to explore and learn.

Having also worked as a Spanish and Drama teacher and facilitated creative workshops for children, Belén is passionate about helping little ones discover their own confidence, creativity and connection through music.

In Belén’s words:

“I’ve always believed music and storytelling speak the same language: the language of play. Watching little ones find their own rhythm, voice and confidence in a room full of song is what I love most about this work.”

We’re so excited to have Belén bringing our Early Childhood Music program to the Nambucca Heads community.

A little look inside Anna’s ECM classes on Friday. 🌼

To celebrate spring, Anna brought in a bunch of flowers and the morning unfolded through music, movement and play.

The children danced, explored instruments, planted seeds and joined in with so much curiosity and joy.

Anna has such a warm, nurturing way of teaching, and it was lovely to see the children so engaged and comfortable in the space.

A big thank you to Anna, the parents and all the children for letting us join you and capture a little of the morning.

Our Early Childhood Music classes are currently running in Coffs Harbour and Bellingen, with Nambucca Heads and Woolgoolga coming soon.

Introducing the Recording Studio at Coffs Con. 🎸

Our new Recording Studio is a dedicated space for recording, songwriting, music production, electronic music, composition and collaborative projects.

It gives students, musicians and local creatives more opportunities to explore ideas, build skills and create music using contemporary recording and production technology.

We’re excited to see how the space is used and what gets created here.

This week is the final week of The Demo Sessions for Round 1. 🎧

Over five sessions, our first group of musicians and songwriters learned the recording process from start to finish — capturing performances, building mixing skills, and turning their own songs into polished, share-ready demos.
