The City of Coffs Harbour Lifeguard Service is under threat. Our Council wants to contract the service.

Your Lifeguard Service has employed local people for 40-years, they have provided a magnificent water safety eduction program for students between kindy and year 12 as well as programs for university and TAFE students. Their education programs are unique in that they put most students in the ocean to experience first hand how the ocean moves, supervised by experienced Lifeguards.

Our Lifeguard Service implemented the Remote Rescue Tube program which has been successful in saving the lives of more than a dozen people since inception.

The Lifeguards have been responsible for expansion of the service over the years by providing the evidence for Council to increase service.

Councils own community satisfaction surveys have shown the Lifeguards to be ranked in the top two services provided by Council. Why does Council want to contract out a service that provides good news, saves life and is progressive in identifying the needs of the community.

Please write to the Councillors and demand that the Lifeguard service stays local, don’t send profits made by a contractor to Sydney, keep the wages and service local.
