CASPA would like to extend our sincere thanks to O'Brien Electrical and Plumbing Lismore for partnering with us to support young people through our Internship Program, funded by the CASPA Foundation.

By providing meaningful workplace experience, O'Brien's is helping young people build confidence, develop practical skills, explore career pathways, and take important steps toward long-term employment.

These opportunities are life-changing, and they wouldn't be possible without employers who are willing to invest in the next generation.

Thank you to the team at O'Brien Electrical and Plumbing Lismore for believing in the potential of young people and helping them build their independence.

Could your business be next to make a difference?

We're always looking for local organisations interested in making a real impact by hosting an intern.

Whatever industry your business represents, we'd love to explore how we can work together to create more meaningful opportunities for young people.

A huge congratulations to all of the finalists at Saturday night's Business Lismore Awards.

We're so proud of CASPA's Community Engagement Lead, Jess Fraser, who received a Highly Commended award in the Outstanding Employee category.

Jess does so much to build connection and strengthen community across Lismore. She is the driving force behind initiatives including the Lismore Christmas Carnival, Empowering Ability celebrating International Day of People with Disability, the CASPA Star Awards, the CASPA Christmas Appeal, Back to School Campaign, Reach for the Stars Day, and the CASPA Carer Conference, while also supporting countless other community projects, partnerships and events throughout the region.

Jess is known for her warmth, energy and ability to connect with anyone. She brings people together in a way that feels natural and genuine, creating opportunities for people, organisations and communities to work together and achieve great things.

Community and connection are at the heart of everything Jess does. At CASPA, we know that great things happen when people come together, support one another and work towards a shared goal. Together, we can create opportunities, strengthen communities and make meaningful change.

"We can't do everything, but surely, we can do something."

Since becoming carers with CASPA in 2021, James and Danni have opened their home to children ranging from one to fifteen years old through respite and emergency care. Along the way, they have discovered that sometimes making a difference doesn't require changing your whole life. Sometimes it starts with simply saying yes to helping where you can.

Yesterday, more than 7,000 people came together on Bundjalung Country for Big Deadly Day, celebrating NAIDOC Week and this year's theme, 50 Years of Deadly.

What began as a rainy morning quickly turned into a day filled with sunshine, laughter, connection and community. Families gathered to enjoy free rides, touch football, live music, cultural performances, community stalls, food and activities, culminating in a vibrant celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture and strength.

Throughout the day, young people ran onto the footy field, Elders shared a yarn, community organisations connected with families, and people from all walks of life gathered to celebrate not just 50 years of NAIDOC, but the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and cultures that have thrived for tens of thousands of years.

This event would not have been possible without the collaboration and commitment of so many people and organisations. Thank you to our co-hosts Ngunya Jarjum Aboriginal Corporation and Lismore City Council, our community partners Yarn2Connect and Jarjum Mirr Bulaangii REDinc - Realising Every Dream, our generous sponsors, performers, stallholders, volunteers and everyone who contributed their time, energy and support.

Communities are strongest when everyone feels connected, included and celebrated. Big Deadly Day showed what is possible when organisations, businesses and community come together with a shared purpose.
