Regulation support doesn’t need to mean endless printouts. Sometimes the most effective tools are simple, accessible and even handmade by our support workers to suit the individual.

Because support should work in real life, when it’s actually needed. 🌿

OUR Why, Because this is our life too.

We have three kids with additional needs, and a huge part of why I started Journey Community Connections came from knowing how hard it can be to find support you actually trust.

Not just someone who can fill a shift.

Someone who gets to know your child. Someone who notices the little things. Someone you feel comfortable having in your home and around your family. Someone who becomes part of the network you can actually rely on.

We understand school can’t because we live it.

We understand plans changing at the last minute, appointments, phone calls, advocating, juggling work and family, and trying to hold everything together when your child needs you.

And being a parent doesn’t clock off at 5pm.

Even when the kids finally go to sleep, you're still thinking about tomorrow, organising appointments, answering emails, researching, planning and worrying about things most people never have to think twice about.

That’s why I’m so particular about how we grow

I don't want to throw workers onto a roster just because there’s an empty shift.

I want us to build individualised teams, brick by brick. 🧱

People who fit. People who care. People who understand that trust takes time and that behaviour is often communication. People who will celebrate the wins that might seem tiny to everyone else but are absolutely massive to that person and their family.

I built Journey because I wanted to create the kind of support network I would want around my own kids.

And as we grow, I never want to lose sight of that.

If I wouldn’t be comfortable with something for my own family, I don’t expect another family to accept it for theirs.

That’s our why. ❤️

At Journey Community Connections, we’re not interested in simply filling shifts.

We’re building an individualised support team — brick by brick — carefully matching the right support workers with the right participants, families and support needs.

As we continue to grow across the Coffs Harbour to Newcastle Areas, we’re looking for experienced Disability Support Workers who genuinely care about the people they support.

🧱 Every person we bring into our team matters.
We’re looking for people who understand that good support is built on trust, consistency, patience, respect and connection.

Experience supporting neurodivergent children and young people, adults with complex support needs, manual handling, mobility assistance, personal care, epilepsy, autism, ADHD, FASD, neurological disabilities and complex behaviours will be highly regarded.

We want support workers who take the time to understand the individual, recognise that behaviour can be communication, celebrate progress and provide support with dignity and respect.

Journey Community Connections is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team within the Coffs Harbour to Nambucca Heads Area

We are looking for people with a genuine passion for assisting others and experience supporting neurodivergent children and young people, and adults including individuals with complex support needs.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Current First Aid & CPR
Current unrestricted driver licence
Reliable and roadworthy vehicle
Comprehensive vehicle insurance
Experience supporting neurodivergent children and young people
Experience and confidence with manual handling and mobility assistance
Ability to safely follow individual manual handling procedures and support plans
A genuine passion for supporting and assisting people
Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent during challenging situations
Strong communication and documentation skills
Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic

We're not just looking for someone with the right certificates and checks.

We're looking for people who genuinely care about the individuals they support — people who understand that behaviour can be communication, take the time to build trust and recognise that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and understanding.

Experience with autism, ADHD, FASD, neurological disabilities, epilepsy, complex behaviours, personal care and manual handling will be highly regarded.
