Across SA, marine ecosystems have been devastated by the Harmful Algal Bloom. One of the species that have been heavily impacted are razorfish (Pinna Dolabrata).

Razorfish are a filter-feeding bivalve that form complex and biodiverse habitats, yet people continue to destroy razorfish beds in 2026 as they have no active protections in place. They act as nursery sites and shelter for many marine critters, even once they have died (as seen in the clip above)!

Habitats like coral reefs are protected, so why not Razorfish if they fulfill a similar ecological role?

So what do you think? Should Razorfish be protected in South Australia?
