We are thrilled to welcome Rhona, a proud Gubbi Gubbi woman, to the Mob4Mob Board. With more than 30 years of experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families, and communities, Rhona brings a wealth of knowledge, cultural leadership, and advocacy to our Board.

Alongside her extensive professional experience, Rhona also brings valuable lived experience as the mother of a son with disability, strengthening her passion for creating positive change for First Nations people with disability.

We are honoured to have Rhona join us and look forward to the knowledge, guidance, and passion she will bring as we continue to grow together.

This NAIDOC Week we're celebrating the next generation of strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders.

At Mob 4 Mob, we know that employment is about so much more than a job. It's about opportunity, confidence, connection and creating pathways for our young people to lead.

A huge shout out to Cisavah Warcon, a proud Wakka Wakka, Gaangalu and Wulli Wulli man, who is building his future while staying strong in culture, and to QVC Group for not only supporting him every day but for actively celebrating culture in the workplace. When organisations embrace culture and invest in young leaders, they help create workplaces where people can truly thrive.

We asked Cis what mob and culture mean to him:
"Mob and culture give us a sense of belonging and identity. They are at the core of who we are, connecting us to our community, history and traditions. It's about knowing your roots and passing that strength and knowledge on."

And when we asked what being Deadly means to him:
"Being Deadly means standing tall with respect and owning who I am as a proud Aboriginal and South Sea Islander young man. It's about creating good pathways for the young generation coming through, staying connected to culture, and looking to our Elders who have walked before us to guide the way."

We couldn't be prouder to celebrate young leaders like Cisavah and the organisations that walk alongside them.

This weekend, the Mob 4 Mob team had the privilege of creating a Chill Out Space at Between the Tides in Airlie Beach (Ngaro Country).

Our space was designed as a place where people could take a moment to rest, recharge, play a board game, grab some water, or simply enjoy a break from the excitement of the festival.

It was wonderful to see so many families and children making use of the space throughout the day.

A huge thank you to the Queensland Music Festival team for welcoming us and for creating such an inclusive event. It was fantastic to see accessibility considered throughout the festival, including the presence of an Auslan interpreter and inclusive seating, ensuring more people could enjoy the performances.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our space. We can't wait to be part of more events like this in the future.

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the strength, resilience and rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a time to honour the stories of our Elders, recognise the achievements of our communities, and celebrate the next generation of leaders.

We are proud to stand alongside First Nations people with disability, advocating for inclusion, self-determination, and a future where every voice is heard and valued.

This week, take the time to listen, learn, celebrate, and walk together in the spirit of respect and reconciliation.
