Post Cyclone Clean-up!

No major damages - just fallen trees on the PDR to be cleared for passing traffic.

Retaining fallen trees and creating log piles provides an excellent habitat for wildlife by creating shelter and food.

⚠️ CYCLONE SEASON ‼️ 🌀

Our Rangers are busy in town today helping Coen families prepare for the coming cyclone ahead. We wish to let everybody know that everyone is safe and prepared as best they can. Thank- you to the co-operation of the QLD Coen Police, SES, QLD Health Departments, our local Community hub CRAC, Cook Shire Council and the Coen people. Fingers cross everyone remain safe.

Before and after images and drone fly overs helps us to manage our effort and record results.
These shots show the weeds drying up and dying. The chemical mix we use is safe around the water ways, so it has no negative impacts on aquatic plants and animals.
The Rangers are trained in the application of these chemicals so the Country is in safe hands.

After a relaxing Christmas and New Years holiday break Kalan Indigenous Rangers are back into it. 2026 has started with a full crew of 8 rangers and with the patchy wet season the invasive weeds are popping up again. So we’re strking early. At the moment we’re targeting the sickel pod. Did you know sickel pod seeds can lay dormant in the soil for 15 years!!! Looking after Country never stops.
