Hi Everyone, the next few days are super hot here in Victoria. Please consider leaving out water for wildlife, by providing a water source for animals, insects etc, you are providing a lifeline. Please remember to put stones or sticks in the bowl in case something small gets in and can't get out. Don't forget your pets and yourself too. Stay safe.

Today is International Wombat Day. Its a day to celebrate these wonderful self-sufficient, amply rounded, adorable creatures. Wombats are mostly chilled but they can get feisty if provoked, or just because they want to. Show me another animal who can crush their attackers by squashing them in their burrow, or facing their beautiful big butt at the entrance so no one can get in. Fun fact also, their poo comes in neat little cubes and their collective noun is a 'wisdom of wombats'. What's not to love about Wombats :)

Ah the serenity of having a fledgling Raven in care 🤦‍♀️, non stop demanding for food, with perhaps a 10 second memory as if I hadn't fed him/her all day. Currently out in our flight aviary both of us digging for grubs...the things we do, but hey they have to learn somehow 🤩😍

Easy rescue today, got a call that an Echidna was on a back decking, which normally they would move away if not disturbed but this one was wedged under the air conditioner. Thing with an echidna's is, if they have something over the top of them (like the air con unit) and they try to move away from it, they immediately go into defense mode thinking something or someone is touching them. Managed to get him/her out no problems and put safely back into the bush block behind the property. Thanks so much Leigh and Matt for letting me know :)

Meet Emmott, he was found alone yesterday in Emerald, way too young to be without his mum. We are so lucky to have a Vet service with Wildlife Victoria who do home visits. Today Donna and Nikki spent a few hours here giving him the best possible care, they are amazing. Unfortunately he has sarcoptic mange which will hopefully be treatable. He is such a sweet little boy, only weighs around 3.5 kilos. He seemed to enjoy having a bath today, and loving his bottles and quickly falls into a milk coma. Thanks Claire for finding him.

Thanks Cockatoo Creek Vet Clinic, again you have gone above and beyond in helping with injured wildlife. The Tawny flew into a car the other night and sustained a very bloody eye and bruising in the mouth. Jacqueline whose car he flew into immediately stopped, scooped him up and drove him straight to us, he has eye drops for a week, fingers crossed he recovers well. The Corella, has injured the underneath of his foot, it looked way worse than what is was. After stemming the bleeding a custom made corella collar was made, (thanks Candice and Meghan for your handywork) to encourage him from removing the bandage. Lets hope both of them make a full recovery.
