NORM Norm is a warehouse full of workshop, studio and shared creative space.

We aim to facilitate makers, tinkerers and artists to complete projects, learn new skills and pass on knowledge. Norm is an inclusive, hands-on, peer to peer learning environment that fosters safe and comfortable use of woodwork and metalwork tools and equipment. We are a non-profit, volunteer run organisation that aims to make workshop space and equipment financially accessible. The front half of the building has a communal lounge and kitchen, 11 lockable studios plus a whole heap of shared space. In the back half you’ll find a nice big workshop for getting down and dirty with all your creative projects and tinkering. We are set up to cater for those bigger projects you’ve got on the go at home and have dedicated short term storage space. It’s a great place to run workshops, host events and simply collaborate with the other wonderful folks at NORM.

RE:WORKED : : AN EXHIBITION OF NORM WAREHOUSE MAKERS

Re:Worked is an exhibition showcasing the diversity of creative projects that occur at Norm Warehouse. The exhibition explores the broad nature of design from the perspective of the hobbyist to the artist to the design professional.

Norm is a community workshop space in Coburg open to all. Studio holders and casual users have a chance to craft their own works in an experimental and iterative manner rather than relying on globalised mass-produced items. In this shared environment, folks consult one another, swap skills and ideas, and are part of a supportive and diverse community.

“Re:Worked” highlights the Norm ethos that enables people to repair and maintain objects rather than contribute to a throwaway society. The works on display will emphasise the use of recycled materials, and the communal rethinking of conventions which counterpose art and utility.

Our SCM panel saw might be our oldest machine but it's also probably the most reliable. This green machine is the backbone of our shared workshop and is available to anyone who has done the workshop induction.
