EDIT: BEING FIXED. But it is shocking that no changes were made to this intersection when it was recently resurfaced and painted. Trucks clearly have trouble turning left here without wrecking infrastructure.
And this intersection has the second highest incidence of crashes on our stretch.

⚠️ Be careful! The lights at Elizabth and Murray are facing the wrong way by 90 degrees. Probably knocked by a truck - again

In the shadow of the tragedy of a person cycling being killed on Gilbert Rd a couple days ago, please come and join us on Sunday to share and hear local stories about walking and riding.

We know our local streets and arterials are heavily used by people and families cycling to work, childcare, school and activities. It needs to be safer. Allocating road space and finding to people walking and riding is part of that.

This event is part of Bicycle Network campaign to get 5% of transport budgets allocated to active travel.

Preston and Pascoe Vale state electorate election candidates have been invited.

Greensborough Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal collision in Preston this evening.

Emergency services were called to reports a truck had struck a cyclist on Gilbert Road about 5.10pm.

The cyclist, a 28-year-old Brunswick West man, was transported to hospital where he later died.

The truck driver stopped at the scene and was not injured.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV/dashcam footage or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
