This week it's Australian Children’s Book Week, and CPSN is again shining a spotlight on our community members who are champions for change, recognition and inclusiveness in the disability children’s book and publishing industries.

CPSN spoke with passionate author, editor, disability advocate and small business owner Laura Pettenuzzo who has done some amazing things in a short space of time.

At CPSN, we understand that every person is different - with their own needs, goals, preferences and ideas about how they want to live their life.

• We take the time to get to know you and connect you with support workers who are right for you. You’re included, informed and involved in decisions about your supports every step of the way.

• We work alongside you and the people important to you to understand what matters, and tailor your supports around your life – not the other way around.

• Our experienced team can provide high-intensity and complex supports including PEG feeding, complex bowel care, diabetes management, wound care and subcutaneous injections.

• We can also help with the everyday things that enable you to live as independently as possible and in the way you choose – whether that’s getting out in the community, spending time with friends, running errands or receiving support with personal care.

Looking for support that’s built around you? Get in touch with CPSN through our website.

Today is International Day of Friendship – a reminder of the important role friendship plays in our lives.

At CPSN, we value connections that help people feel seen, supported and included. Whether it’s with family, friends, colleagues or community meaningful relationships can reduce loneliness and isolation, strengthen our wellbeing and remind us that none of us are meant to do life alone.

The United Nations recognises friendship as:
“A powerful tool in addressing challenges such as poverty, violence, and human rights abuses. By fostering trust and mutual respect, we can create a more stable and compassionate world.”

Friendship helps by:

• Promoting peace through dialogue and understanding between communities.
• Building trust and strengthening social harmony and cooperation.
• Creating solidarity around the shared goal of a better world.

At its core, friendship means being uniquely yourself without fear of judgment and sharing a bond that endures time and distance.

Today, we’re celebrating the friendships that enrich our lives and the connections that make our communities stronger

Artwork displayed is Paralpi by Zaachariaha Fielding

Paralpi extends Zaachariaha’s acclaimed Inma series and reflects a deeply cultural and immersive narrative grounded in Country. The artwork depicts the sounds of Paralpi, a significant place just outside Mimili on the eastern APY Lands in South Australia. As Zaachariaha describes, Paralpi is a place where people come to embrace and celebrate children, where they are taught by Elders to move and mimic their Clan emblem — for Mimili, this being the maku (witchetty grub).

Shout out to CPSN client Kyra, who entered her fantastic art piece “My Voice” into the VALID Having a Say Art competition.CPSN had the pleasure of seeing this artwork in person in January when we were down in Geelong for the conference. We even snapped a cheeky photo with the CPSN Team and the artist herself!

My Voice By Kyra Drummond
My artwork depicts my mouth on my hand,
since my hands are often the way in which I communicate.
Non-verbal communication is so important in truly connecting with my fellow humans.
My work highlights that importance and serves as a reminder
that communication happens in many forms.
