Want to help live music thrive in the Bega Valley?

Join us for an afternoon of folk songs and instrumental playing from award-winning songwriter, Lucy Wise and her band on Saturday 26 Sept at the Cobargo Showground NSW. Doors open 3pm.

Lucy has appeared at the Cobargo Folk Festival and Yuin Folk Club in recent years, and she is returning to Cobargo as part of her East Coast Australian Tour of her new album, Salt.

Lucy’s band brings together Isaac Gunnoo on bass and Justin Olsson on drums, weaving a vibrant soundscape for Lucy’s songs, with voice, guitar, a rolling rhythm section and lush vocal harmonies.

Originally from South West Australia and now based in Central Victoria, Lucy has toured extensively across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US, and appeared at festivals including Woodford, Port Fairy and the National Folk Festival. Her work has earned multiple accolades, including Solo Artist of the Year at the 2024 Australian Folk Music Awards.

Lucy is supported by Piper Allen who is a singer/ songwriter based on the Far South Coast. Her style of music blends dreamy folky sounds with jazzy neo soul. Her songs reflect the potential that lies beneath our everyday emotions and experiences. Influenced by her familial connection to South America she loves Brazilian music particularly the soft smooth tones of bossa nova. Supported by her partner Taisha Reed on percussion.

This event is part of the Cobargo Music Art Culture program, supported by Create NSW and the Cobargo Folk Festival.

The future of live music is in your hands.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of David Handren-Smith, a beloved member of our Cobargo community and a true friend to the Cobargo Folk Festival.

For many years, Dave could be found behind the bar at our festival, always with a smile, a kind word, and an unwavering dedication to making sure everyone had a good time. His generosity of spirit and tireless support helped shape the festival into the community treasure it is today. He embodied the spirit of volunteerism and community that makes Cobargo Folk Festival so special. He will be deeply missed by the festival family, the volunteers he worked alongside, and the countless festival-goers whose experience was made better by his warmth and hard work.

Our thoughts are with David's family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Vale, David. Thank you for everything you gave to our festival and our community. 🎶

Dave’s funeral will be at 2pm Aug 26 at Clavering Park Wolumla.
