📡 COBARGO IS CONNECTED! 🌏⚡

What an absolutely cracking first day at JOTA-JOTI 2026!

Our Cobargo Showgrounds have been buzzing with Scouts, Joeys, Cubs and Venturers from across the South Coast, Tablelands and beyond — all coming together for a weekend of connection, challenges and a little bit of organised chaos!

From Morse code and radio communications to laser mazes, 3D printing, robotics, electronic gadgets, secret codes and Minion Mayhem — we’ve been putting curious minds, clever thinking and teamwork to the test! 🤖📻🍌

There have been plenty of laughs, a few head-scratching moments, some seriously impressive problem-solving skills and loads of new friendships.

And that’s what Jamboree on the Air – Jamboree on the Internet is all about — connecting young people, exploring technology, learning new skills and discovering that Scouting really does open up a whole world of adventure. 🌏

A huge shout-out to our amazing Leaders, volunteers and supporters who have helped bring all this madness to life!

And we’re only getting started … more mayhem tomorrow! 🚀

⚜️ Some awards are about much more than the badge. 💚

We had a pretty special moment at our Jamborette Camp on the weekend, when Lynne and Graham Parr were presented with replacement Scout awards for those they lost in the fires.

They’re not new awards — but we think what they represent is absolutely worth celebrating again.

🌿 Lynne’s Silver Wattle Award recognises her outstanding service to Scouting after many years as our District Joey Scout Leader. Lynne has now hung up her Joey Leader hat, but she hasn’t gone far! She continues to support Graham, our leaders and our Scouting family from the sidelines.

🐨 Graham’s Silver Koala Award recognises his distinguished service to Scouting, including his many years as South Coast District Scout Leader. And Graham is most definitely still in the thick of it — continuing to share his knowledge, experience and time with our Scouts and leaders.

Between them, Lynne and Graham have given an extraordinary number of years to Scouting — helping young people find their feet, supporting leaders, turning up to camps, solving problems, sharing a laugh and simply being there when they’re needed.

The fires may have taken the original awards, but they could never take away what those awards represent.

We’re very glad to see them back where they belong.

Thank you, Lynne and Graham, for everything you have given — and continue to give — to our Scouting community. ⚜️💚

✨ Once upon a time… in Cobargo, the fairytales got a little FRACTURED! 🐉🧚‍♀️🐺

This weekend, Scouts from across the South Coast & Tablelands have come together for the Fractured Fairytales Jamborette — and there’s been plenty of fun, friendship and just the right amount of fairytale chaos!

With dragons on the loose, princesses who definitely don’t need rescuing, suspicious-looking wolves and heroes who may have taken a wrong turn, it hasn’t exactly been your traditional “happily ever after.” 😂

Instead, our Scouts have been camping, tackling challenges, getting outdoors, working together, meeting new people and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. ⛺️🌲🔥

There’s something pretty special about seeing Scouts from different groups and towns all thrown together for a weekend — making new friends, catching up with old ones and simply having a great time.

A little mud, a little madness, a few fractured fairytales… and a whole lot of fun in Cobargo. 💚⚜️🐲

Now THAT sounds like a good story!

⛺ AND THEY’RE OFF TO CUBOREE!

Today some of our Cubs are heading off to the ACT for five HUGE days of fun, friendship and adventure at Cuboree!

For five days they’ll be camping, exploring, tackling challenges, trying new activities, making new friends and having the kind of adventures that childhood memories are made of. 💚

And this is what we love about Cubs and Scouts.

It’s not just our weekly meetings. It’s camping under the stars, getting muddy, learning to cook over a fire, hiking, paddling, climbing, navigating, building things, solving problems, travelling to big events like Cuboree — and discovering that you’re capable of much more than you thought.

Along the way, our young people learn independence, resilience, teamwork and leadership… mostly while they’re far too busy having fun to realise they’re learning anything at all!

For our Cubs heading off today, this is a BIG adventure; five days away from home and a whole Cuboree full of experiences waiting for them.

We hope you have the most AMAZING time. Say yes to everything, try something new, look after your mates, make some new ones, get thoroughly exhausted and come home with LOTS of stories to tell us! 🏕️🦕💚

And if your child looks at things like this and says “I want to do THAT!”, maybe it’s time to come and see what Scouts is all about.

From Joeys through Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and beyond, there’s always another adventure waiting.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday to celebrate our 100-year anniversary!

We were joined by current and former members, along with some special guests from both within our region and beyond. We also had a great collection of memorabilia both old and new, photos and videos on display.

We’re very grateful to everyone who helped make the occasion so memorable and hope everyone had a good time!
