On Saturday, 6 December, members of Barrabaroo Landcare and Yowrie Landcare enjoyed a social outing to Wadbilliga Station. Our guest speaker was Kevin Dibley, senior Land Services Officer with South East Local Land Services.

Kevin briefly discussed the Draft Native Vegetation Regulatory Map for landholders before showing us the results of recent work undertaken at Wadbilliga Station under the Land Management (Native Vegetation) Code 2018 ('Code'). The Code is part of the Land Management Framework that regulates native vegetation on private rural land in NSW. The regulations include allowable activities such as removing invasive native species and thinning for pasture expansion.

Following the talk and walk, everyone enjoyed a BBQ picnic lunch.

Lots of interesting articles by Kim Deans on her 'Reinventing Agriculture' Blog, including this one from October 2024: 'Turning tree-planting challenges into growth'. (Link in comment below as it doesn't seem to be working here.)

Our 20-year journey of re-establishing trees on land where trees were cleared for tin mining in the early 1900’s has presented plenty of challenges, which have provided abundant opportunities to learn and try methods to improve our success growing trees.
