Supporting partnerships with local government, community groups and corporate institutions, on volunteering

Offer a wide range of services to community groups including supporting volunteer management, education and training, referrals, recruitment, events and transport services

It is so rewarding to see their dedication, compassion, and amazing work in our community being recognised at this fantastic Community Celebration!

This year’s Open Day celebrates the Museum coming to life with heritage demonstrations, family activities, guided tours, community groups, music, crafts, and hidden surprises throughout the Museum.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience our newly renovated reception area and refurbished Museum shop, creating a fresh and welcoming entrance to the Museum. We are also excited to showcase our new “Our Forging History” blacksmith exhibition, highlighting the stories, tools, and craftsmanship behind this important trade. I would also love you to see this area is really made such a huge impact on entering the Museum!
One of the special family highlights will be the Fairy Door Scavenger Hunt, featuring 8 handcrafted fairy doors hidden throughout the Museum. Each tiny door reveals a native Australian animal, encouraging children and families to explore, search, and discover the Museum in a playful and imaginative way.
Some of the highlights for the Open day include:
• Fairy Door Scavenger Hunt featuring 8 handcrafted fairy doors hidden throughout the Museum
• Live Blacksmithing Demonstrations and the new “Our Forging History” exhibition
• Guided Museum Tours
• Redlands Model Railway Club displays featuring Thomas the Tank Engine
• Theatre Redlands displays and upcoming productions
• U3A singers performing live at the Pianola
• Spinners & Weavers demonstrations
• Kids’ old-fashioned games including dominoes, elastics, and quoits
• Old-fashioned lolly shop with handmade sweets
• Nature craft activities for children
• Rotary Heritage Library access and displays
• BDARS radio display from the Bayside District Amateur Radio Society
• Radio Room Café with coffee, snacks, and a sausage sizzle
