✨ DISCOVER CLERMONT ✨

Last weekend, Clermont had the opportunity to welcome two visiting doctors and their partners as part of our first Discover Clermont weekend.

From hospital tours and local industry visits to horse riding, helicopter flights, community events and plenty of good conversations, our guests experienced just some of what makes Clermont such a special place to live, work and belong.

The weekend forms part of the Consider Clermont campaign, a community-led initiative focused on attracting doctors and other healthcare professionals to our region. More than recruitment, it's about introducing people to our community, forging a connection and creating opportunities for ongoing conversations. In healthcare, personal recommendations and shared experiences often travel far, and we want Clermont to be mentioned positively in those conversations.

A huge thank you to our incredible Clermont4Doctors Community Champions, local businesses, volunteers and community members who gave up their time, shared their stories and showcased the very best of Clermont hospitality.

We are especially grateful to everyone who welcomed our visitors with a friendly smile, a chat, an introduction or an offer of support. These small gestures make a big difference and help demonstrate exactly what makes our town unique.

This is just the beginning. We plan to make Discover Clermont events a regular feature of our annual calendar and an important part of building our future healthcare workforce.

💙 Small town. Big heart. Big opportunities.

ClermontCONNECT and Clermont4Doctors are launching "Consider Clermont” - a campaign to show health professionals what makes Clermont a great place to live and work.

As part of this, we are hosting our first "Discover Clermont" weekend from 23-24 May. Two visiting doctors and their partners will spend time in Clermont, meet the locals and get a feel for life in our town.

This is part of ClermontCONNECT’s ongoing work to build relationships, attract more health workers to Clermont and help strengthen healthcare services for the future.

The "Consider Clermont" campaign is made possible with funding support from the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and Glencore, along with the C4D team.

If you see our visitors over the weekend as we show them around our town and the region, please give them a very warm Clermont welcome.

Congratulations to Clermont local Alana Moller on her appointment to the MHHS Board.

Alana’s lifelong connection to the Isaac region, living and working on her family‑owned cattle property, gives her a grounded understanding of the realities facing rural communities. With more than two decades championing education access for regional, rural and remote students, including national leadership through the ICPA, she brings a rare blend of lived experience, advocacy and governance strength.

Her background in teaching, distance education support, community leadership and board readiness means she steps into this role with both insight and integrity. Alana’s voice will help ensure rural perspectives are not just heard, but genuinely shape decision‑making.

Well done, Alana, on strengthening rural voices in the room. We wish you and the board every success as you guide the vital work of MHHS.

International Nurses Day 💛

Thank you to all our nurses who work and live here in Clermont, and to the agency nurses who step in when our community needs you.

Thank you for the care and service you provide - not just in the big, important things, but in those everyday moments where your actions have meant so much to us.

Clermont appreciates you.

Community leadership often shows itself in quiet, consistent acts of generosity. Michelle Boyes exemplifies this.

As a Community Champion, Michelle has welcomed eight medical students into her home through the Clermont4Doctors program. During their rural placements, she’s been a friendly face, a source of support, and a reminder of what makes Clermont special.

Her quiet generosity helps future doctors feel at home in rural Queensland - and that impact lasts long beyond their placement.

Thank you, Michelle, for being a true pillar of our community 💛

111 years on from the Gallipoli landing, we pause to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and unbreakable spirit of those who served - and those who continue to serve today.

ANZAC Day reminds us that resilience and mateship are not just values of the past, but threads that continue to shape our nation today.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Lest we forget.
