Graduation Day today (as well as pick up day for the Lamington orders), so it was a busy morning in beautiful weather. It certainly feels like Spring has sprung!!

Huge congratulations to Cheri and Benny, the West Highland Terrier, for passing Class 4 and qualifying for their Basic Obedience Certificate. Beautiful work Cheri and Benny.

No dogs graduated from Class 3 this month. Keep up the regular training during the week - just short sessions every day (or several times a day) and we look forward to seeing the results at the end of September. Don't forget that the Instructors are happy to give suggestions for any exercises that are proving difficult for the dog and/or handler.

There were 2 successful graduations from Class 2. Jacqui and Lucy (Tenterfield) and Emily and Kevin (Golden Retriever) will move onto Class 3 next week and six dogs and their handlers will move on from Class 1 to Class 2. They are Judy and Oscar (Labradoodle), Mirna and Lexi (Havanese), Craig and Willow (Labrador), Mana and Milo (Cavoodle), Francis and Kitsune (Corgi X) and Chester and Millie (Blue Heeler).

Learners who will move onto Class 1 are Denis with Monty (Cavoodle) and Sharni and Lexi (American Staffy X).

A special "Congratulations" to Kerrie and Violet, her Rottweiler, for gaining first place in last week's Community Companion Dog (CCD) Obedience Trial at Port Adelaide Dog Obedience Club. A very impressive 95 points were awarded from a possible 100. Great work Kerrie and Violet.

There were complimentary lamingtons and cuppas available for attendees today to celebrate the success of the recent Lamington Drive. Many thanks to those who purchased lamingtons and to Gail and Pauline for all of their work processing the orders and providing the complimentary refreshments.

The weather is changing, so take the opportunity to get out with your dog for some short and frequent trainings ready for September's Graduation which will be held on 27 September.

A very foggy morning yesterday for our Christmas in July and Graduation. The planned Obstacle Course was abandoned due to the weather and treacherous ground. You can see the heavy fog in the background of some of the Graduation photos - that was an obstacle course in its own right.

Many thanks to Gail, one of our Committee members, who organised and made the Christmas in July happen. She had sausages (onion and sauce optional), mini puddings, loose lollies and bags of lollies for everyone and rounded it all up with tinsel and Christmas bon bons. A cheery thing to do on a very dreary morning.

Congratulations to Shirley and Jack the Labrador who showed they have attained Basic Obedience standard and will be presented with their Certificate and Ribbon next week. Well done to Shirley for persevering over two years to get them to this stage.

Cheri with Benny the Westie were assessed as being ready to move from Class 3 to Class 4, where they will work towards their Basic Obedience Certificate.

Brook and Byron, the Cattle Dog, were the lone graduands in Class 2 and, again, Brook was congratulated on her perseverance with training to get them to this stage. Byron is a handful and is starting to get some self control. More hard work, Brook and Byron, in Class 3 where you will work on off lead stays in all positions, off lead recalls at a short distance and stand for examination without Byron moving. Some hard work ahead!!

Class 2 awaits Andrew and Rumble, the Labradoodle, and Greer with Daphne, the Schnauzer, following their graduation from Class 1. All doing very well.

There were three successful graduations from Learners level - Mana with Milo the Cavoodle, Sam and Kiwi the Retriever, and Francis with Kitsune the Corgi X.

Just one in Beginners Class - little Bindee the 4 month old Boxer, with handler Rebecca. What a cute little face! On Bindee that is. We look forward to seeing you move through the classes Rebecca and Bindee.

Three dogs and their handlers attended Beginners Class yesterday to hear from Instructor, Ebonee, about the club and our classes. We look forward to seeing them progress through the classes.

Next Sunday we will be celebrating CHRISTMAS IN JULY with a free sausage sizzle that will be available all morning, as well as an obstacle course for handlers and dogs to maneuver through. This is always good fun and a different way to see how training is progressing.

There is also the chance to order some yummy Kyton's Lamingtons, from their Winter range or just plain. Check with Gail to place an order.

While all of this is happening Graduation testing will be done when classes are visited by our Head Instructor and/or Assistant Head Instructors to see who is ready for the next level of training.

Sunday 26 July will be Graduation Day, with all dogs and handlers assessed to see if they are ready to progress to the next level of training. We will also celebrate Christmas in July with a free Sausage Sizzle, available throughout the morning for all classes.

An obstacle course will also be set up for dogs and their handlers to try out once graduation assessment has been done.

So lots of activity and fun to be had on Sunday 26 July. Training as usual this Sunday 19 July - rain or shine!! Hope to see you there.
