From 1 to 8 March, we’re calling on citizen scientists to head outdoors and record frog calls.

Your recordings can give our scientists valuable insights into which frogs are active, where they are living, and just as importantly, where they aren’t. It might feel odd, but even if you hit record and hear nothing, that silence can be incredibly useful data.

Read this blog post to learn why autumn matters for frogs and meet the currently known terrestrial species of frogs in SA. Who knows maybe you could help find a new species by submitting your recordings?

By assisting with frog monitoring you can help us understand the health and distribution of our local frog species. Contributing is easy! Choose a site to su...

Spring has sprung and the frogs are on! It’s time for the spring Frogwatch SA Seasonal Census. 🐸🐸🐸

This week (1-8 Sept), record frog calls using the FrogSpotter app or FrogWatch SA webpage and help ecologists understand how frogs are tracking, and what this might mean for the ecosystems they inhabit.

Frogs are incredibly sensitive to pollution and habitat destruction and with numbers declining over the world, we need to better understand their distribution, habitat and breeding. This knowledge will enable conservation efforts to be better targeted and more effective.

With just a smartphone you can be part of scientific discovery and protect our ecosystems. Every call counts and your contributions will make a real difference!
