Looking for something fun, social and a bit different to try?

Swing Patrol Brisbane is running beginner swing dance classes in Kalinga every Thursday night.

No experience needed, no partner required — just come along and have a go. The classes are relaxed, welcoming and a great way to meet people, move a little and have some fun.

Monique and Nathan create such a friendly atmosphere, and the music and energy look fantastic.

After 6 weeks of chatting and chopping, our first group have completed the Meals 4 Mates cooking and nutrition course 🥳. They have been let loose to fry 🍳, bake 🥧 and saute 🧅 to their hearts content! 👩‍🎓 Congratulations guys 👏, and thanks to everyone for their input and efforts. And a great big thanks to Health and Wellbeing Queensland for providing us the opportunity to create this amazing program with our friends at Meals on Wheels!

Keeping communities connected and socially engaged is a big part of what Neighbourhood Centres do. In 2025 Centres across Queensland supported over 1.47 million participants in Programmed Activities. 🤝

Numbers of community members participating in
activities has grown consistently from 10,316 people per week in 2021 to an estimated 29,438 people per week in 2025.
