We provide positive role models and create an inclusive community for vulnerable youth, all while having fun, making memories, and trying new things. LYF provides disadvantaged Perth teenagers aged 13 - 15 years with positive experiences and one-on-one mentors at a critical time in their lives. With the support and encouragement from their mentors, LYF's teens learn new skills and build their conf
idence, and LYF encourages positive behaviours such as educational engagement and employment preparation, ultimately helping these teens to lead happier, healthier lives. LYF was established in 2011 and runs events for teenagers, including day-long picnics and weekend camps, with a focus on development activities as well as having fun! As LYF grows and evolves, we also aim to provide small grants and financial support to assist teens in pursuing opportunities and academic, sporting, musical and artistic interests that might otherwise be financially out of reach. We will also look at facilitating pathways to apprenticeships and vocational education, along with the necessary support, to help our older teens to fulfil their goals and aspirations. LYF is distinguished from many other charities in being entirely run and staffed by volunteers, so every dollar raised goes directly to where it can make a difference. All our volunteers are a minimum age of 22 years old, have current Working With Children Checks and have undergone a thorough selection process as well as training. LYF is affiliated with Uni Camp For Kids Inc (UCFK) and offers an extension to the support and experiences that this charity provides for at-risk children aged 6-12 years.
