🌾 Rural Women Leading the Way – Congrats Thea Walker! 🌾

Yesterday was International Day of Rural Women, and we’d like to shine a light for one of WA’s finest:
Thea Walker – 2024 WA Rural Ambassador and National Runner-Up for 2025.

Thea’s passion for reducing food waste and backing ag innovation earned her national recognition at the 2025 Rural Ambassador Awards – and yesterday she was recognised in Parliament by Hon Jackie Jarvis MLC, Minister for Agriculture.

👏 Thea’s work is a reminder of the power of rural women to lead change in our communities, paddocks, and policies.

To all the women driving agriculture forward across WA – thank you. You are the reason our regions thrive.

Today is International Day of Rural Women.

The day recognises the critical role and contribution of rural women across the globe in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.

It was fitting to host 2024 WA Rural Ambassador Thea Walker at Parliament yesterday, and deliver a Ministerial statement in the Legislative Council to congratulate Thea on her achievements – including being named runner-up at the 2025 National Rural Ambassador Awards.

Thea is a passionate advocate for reducing food waste in the agricultural sector and these recent awards recognise her dedication to finding innovative solutions to challenges faced by rural communities.

Well done, Thea! And to rural, remote and regional woman across WA, thank you for all you do to keep our communities and primary industries thriving.

🏆 FROM DOWERIN TO BRISBANE — NATIONALS, HERE THEY COME!

🎉 Big congrats to our State Final winners at the recent coming in from the crew — a gun team of Murdoch Uni students who’ve shown the perfect combo of brains, brawn, and bale-rolling banter.

These four will now represent WA on the national stage at the 2026 finals at the in Brisbane. No pressure, team — just take all that WA grit with you.

We’re stoked to see this mob carry the flag for WA next year — and we’ll be cheering them on every step of the way. 🔥

💬 If you’re thinking, “Hey, we could’ve smashed that” — then now’s your time to start training for 2026. Local YFC events will be rolling out again soon. Start building your team!
