🍿💛 LOCAL CINEMAS. LOCAL COMMUNITIES. SUPPORTING MENTAL HEALTH. 💛🍿

How good is this?!

This Thursday, 22 October, Kadina Cinema and Cinema Augusta are showing their support for mental health across our regions by helping raise funds for local Lifeline centres and The Mark Sarfaty Memorial Fund!

🎬 For every ticket sold this Thursday, $1 will be donated to support these important causes.

Both cinemas are part of Independent Cinemas Australia (ICA), whose commitment to supporting Australians extends beyond the big screen. Following a connection made by a Lifeline bookfair volunteer in Sydney, ICA and its participating cinemas, including Kadina Cinema and Cinema Augusta, are helping make a difference for people experiencing mental health challenges.

Through The Mark Sarfaty Memorial Fund, support is also provided to disadvantaged individuals and families within Australia's cinema and performing arts community through direct financial assistance.

💛 This is what community connection is all about!

So, if you can, get behind your local cinema this Thursday, 22 October. Enjoy a movie, support a local business and help contribute to a community where people can access support when they need it most.

Because local support matters. And sometimes, the smallest connections can make the biggest difference.

We had a fantastic day today at the Clare Mental Health Month event organised by SA Health Community Mental Health Team Clare! 💫

A special thanks to Renewables key sponsers to How's Ya Mate allowing us to provide a new initiative to our local regional areas encouraging all in our communities to regularly check-in and ask How's Ya Mate?

Thank you as well to our amazing volunteers and staff Helen and Bradley for taking the time to share the message that Lifeline Connect is available locaclly to all in our region at no cost, with no referral required providing counselling and connect services.

STAFF TRAINING DAY

On Thursday 1 October, our Lifeline Connect Centre team will be taking part in an important professional development and training day.

To allow our whole team to participate, the Connect Centre will be closed from 11am–5pm.

Training and professional development are an important part of ensuring our team has the skills, knowledge and confidence to continue providing safe and effective support to our community.

The North Eastern Football League and The North Eastern Netball Association is excited to be teaming up with Lifeline Regional SA & Far West NSW to bring to you How's Ya Mate (HYM) having a presence at the 2026 NENA/NEFL Grand Final, at the Riverton Recreational Ground on Saturday 12th September 2026.

How's Ya Mate is a mental health and wellbeing program delivered through sporting clubs, providing training, counselling and psychosocial support, starting conversations and breaking down stigmas associated with mental health.

Events like this are a great opportunity for our members to connect with not only those that can support but help start conversations amongst teams, friends and family because we know that clubs play a huge role in looking after people, both on and off the field and court.

The team from Lifeline Regional SA & Far West NSW will be hosting in front of the clubrooms with HYM merchandise, giveaways, along with information about the program, training and how they support local sporting communities.

🎭✨Lifeline Connect recently attended Skinny! A powerful and thought provoking “celebration of every shape, every size and every person who’s ever looked in the mirror and wondered: is this slimming?” performed by Michelle Pearson in Burra.

Through her lived experience of societies focus on body image, the need to fit a certain size and look to conform, Michelle Pearson highlights in her show both the physical and psychological impacts that striving to reach perfectionism with the perfect body can have. She “delves into the cruel and extraordinary things we do to ‘fix’ our bodies” to reach a goal that does not necessarily lead to happiness. 🌱 ❤️

🌟We would like to say a huge thank you to Goyder Council’s Arts and Cultural Facilitator, Fleur Kilpatrick for inviting our team to be present and hold a stall at the event!

Through this collaboration we were available before and after the show to chat to anyone who had been affected either directly or indirectly by body image issues and/or eating disorders, as well as available to share information about local services including Lifeline Connect, Clare’s free counselling and connect support which extends from as far north as Jamestown to Tarlee, and from the Yorke Peninsula to Bundey.

Never hesitate to give us a call as we are there for anyone needing an extra hand. Your support through sharing this information, accessing our service, volunteering, donations, and shopping at our Op Shops and Tip Shops is what keeps us running and able to continue providing our service across Regional South Australia and Far West NSW.
