A stirring colourful sunrise followed by very mild winter conditions greeted our 61 parkrunners/parkwalkers this morning, which included eight first timers to Churchill.
We welcomed visitors from Newborough, Jess and Blair Muller and their extended family, who told us that they found the Churchill experience very welcoming.
Providing lots of inspiration was young energetic first time parkrunner Ava Walter, who became our first female finisher. Congratulations go to mIlestone 400 runners, the evergreen Marie and Geoff Gunn, who also completed in the same time of 32:59.
Well done to Kathryn Edgar and Memphis Wilkinson on achieving PBs.
Thank you to our nine official volunteers today for helping make the event run so smoothly and also to others such as Carol Summersgill, Kim Charleston and Verity Keith, who always assist:
o Timekeepers Charlie Twomey & Gordon Smith
o Barcode Scanning Tim Fowler
o Finish Tokens Matt Jobling
o Photographer Linda Reed
o Marshall Tony Whelan
o Tail Walker Deirdre Schmidt
o Event Day Course Check Des Farley
We also appreciated the quirky posters on parts of the course, created by Tony Whelan, and the neatly mowed strip to greet people at the finish line, curated by the reliable and fastidious Gordon Smith.
The photos will be uploaded across the day.
Good luck to all participants competing in the various Traralgon Harriers Athletic Club Marathon events tomorrow. We hope you have a blast.
Dannielle Last will be your RD next week. In the meantime, keep smiling, and stay active and healthy.
