Chiltern Landcare Group invites Chiltern locals to attend an engaging workshop on 23rd August 2026 run by the Victorian Rabbit Action Network.

This interactive information session will involve an introduction to rabbit biology and ecology, and an overview of best practice rabbit management for peri-urban environments.
The information session will be followed by a ‘township walk’ where a number of properties will be visited with a discussion around the different advice and strategies needed for these properties.

This workshop hopes to inspire a collaborative community approach to managing pest rabbits in the township of Chiltern.

Time: 10am - 1pm Cost: $5 per person.
Location: Chiltern Senior Citizens Hall, Conness Street, Chiltern, Victoria.

Today the Chiltern Landcare team were once again at work at the Suffolk Street Reserve. Works included chipping out Scotch Thistles, raking and tidying the walking paths and mowing all the lawns. It’s looking as pretty as a picture!

We are all sick of the rabbit problem, right? Now we are trying to do something about it.
We are running an information session at the Senior Citizens Hall on Saturday August 23, followed by a township walk.

Later in the year we will be running a demonstration of how to rabbit-proof buildings too.

With some very welcome light rain falling this morning, members of the Chiltern Landcare Group were hard at work at the Chiltern Goods Shed planting 100 plants across nine different species, to provide beautification as well as habitat for our local native wildlife.

The plants included some uncommon Acacias and Rhagodias, as well as Grevilleas, Callistemons, Melaleucas and more.

In a few months we will be back for further plantings which will be done in conjunction with the local primary schools as an educational activity.
