Don’t forget the Railroaders are opening the Goods Shed for the last time this weekend coming, we will be open all three days from 10 to 4:00. Your last chance to view the attraction.

We have a couple of layouts and some railway items that are for sale very cheap, if you’re looking to start with the hobby come and do a deal.

The ladies have plenty of craft items , teddy bears and doll accessories for sale. This will be thier last opportunity to raise money for our charities that we have been supporting for the last five years.

We have decided that the weekend will be free to everyone and hope that you are able to drop in and say goodbye,The group are not disbanding The CHILTERN RAILROADERS will continue to operate, at this stage not in Chiltern, but keep an eye on this page for further news.

The groups mission statement is to create an atmosphere suitable to improve the mental health and physical well being of our members, to continue operating at the Goods shed under to policing of the Indigo shire and the elected volunteer asset committee, will erode that atmosphere very quickly following what has been happening. It will take a while for us to recover in every aspect of our venture especially the financial loss we have incurred because of the shires actions.

BUT do not worry the group will knot be disbanding but moving forward towards bigger and better future. WATCH THIS PAGE.

An update on the Railroaders situation,

The group met today to discuss our future and have decided that we will, because of the tremendous and positive support you the community have shown toward us that we will have ONE LAST DANCE with the Chiltern community and surrounding neighbours.

We have a long weekend coming up to celebrate Australia Day, and the group have decided to delay removing any displays until after that weekend.

We will be open for the public on the three days of that weekend FREE OF CHARGE,to visit and enjoy what we are offering ,you the public and your village, All members will be in attendance to help you understand our situation.

SO PLEASE come visit and show the world what people power can do.

From the group we thank everybody for thier comments through the social media, it means a hell of a lot to us.

Cheers from Keith

As posted earlier l informed you of the application to lease the goods shed was in its final stage, well it is now completed and the news is we have been told that we were not successful . We will not be awarded the lease.

Further to that news,we also have been issued via email from the Indigo shire an order to vacate the goods shed by the 16th of March.

That’s right we have been EVICTED from the goods shed, apparently we don’t meet the requirements of the council lease.

SO,after five years in the making and many dollars in costs the council and management committee have to decided that we are not suitable for the shed.

Because of this notice the goods shed will be closed to the public and never to be opened by the railroaders again. We will commence our exit on Wednesday thr 14th Janurary.

We deeply apologise for this event and the ramifications it will have on the tourism for the village of Chiltern.

If those people of chiltern that have kindly lent items to be displayed at the goods shed could you please contact us at the shed from Wednesday to reclaim those items thank you.

We will possibly have a couple of the smaller layouts to dispose of so if you are loking to start or build on to your hobby please get in touch with us we may be able to help you.

Again we are so disappointed and upset that this has happened and are sorry for the people of Chiltern,

For the last time thank for your support over the last five years

Keith and the team

A happy and prosperous new year to you all. The crew at the goods shed are excited about our future at the shed, we are entering our sixth year as a tourist attraction for the village of Chiltern, a year that has us still in negotiations with Vicrail to lease the complete Goods shed allotment. The gaining of this lease will enable us as a group to grow and expand our footprint at the shed. The close association with the small engine group and the railroaders, the Vintage rally that is held in March will only grow bigger and better, the gardens will be able to be upgraded to allow a beautiful gateway to the Village and further development of the model displays in the museum. We expect a decision very shortly and we will keep you informed.

As for the Museum, we will be extending our opening times to include Wednesdays, so our opening days and times are,
Wednesday, 10:00 to 4:00
Saturday, 10:00 to 4:00
Sunday, 10:00 to 4:00
Children under twelve ar free.
The cost to visit the Museum is still $5:00
To visit for Run day the cost is also $5:00

The support from the local and surrounding community has enabled us to expand our times, so , thank you all.
We are also opening the model railway to all railway enthusiasts to come and enjoy running their own loco and rolling stock, or just use the museum equipment, these running day invites are for any day the Museum is operating, so come and visit and give it a go.

Our fundraising ladies have done a fabulous lot of work raising money for local charities, and will continue to operate their little gift and craft shop at the Museum during the posted operating times, The Doll Doctor will also be in attendance this year, so keep her in mind if you need any repairs for your treasures.

We will be opening to the public on Sunday the 11th of January at 10:00 am, so bring your family in to experience the wonders of the model railway hobby.

So from the dots at the Museum thank you in advance for the coming year,

Cheers

The railway museum will be open this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday 10 to 3. Our presentation has been reduced slightly due to events beyond our control,But still have one of the largest model displays in the regional area. Events that have occurred in the past four months have put our future at the goods shed in jeopardy , but we have taken steps to hopefully ensure that we will continue at the shed and are eagerly waiting for those steps to return a positive outcome. As a small group of members we have built an attraction that has welcomed just short of four . thousand visitors to the goods shed, facilitated the ability for the doll girls to donate almost. Eleven thousand dollars to local charity. In August it will be five years since we formed our group and stationed ourselves at the goods shed. You the community have supported us in every endeavour we have presented and for that we thank you. What we need now is in our time of uncertainty , we need that support even more, so please come along and witness the atmosphere at the museum, thank you for reading this. From the boys at the goods shed.

Just a short note, The Model Railway Museum at the goods shed will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday if required. The hours are 10:00 to 3:00 each day, plenty to see and do, also learn a little history along the way. The members will be working at the shed on Saturday, so it would be a good day to visit and witness the craft of model railway. On Sunday the girls will be in attendance to help with any needs from the art and craft section of the Museum, come along and talk to the girls about knitting ,sewing , embroidery and doll making, also check out the range of dolls and bears . At $5:00 per person it is good value for money.

See you there over the weekend

Cheers, from the railroaders
