So much history in our great city ⏳🏡

A visit to the Cranbourne Shire Historical Society and the Fisherman’s Cottage Museum complex is like stepping back more than 100 years in time.

Big thanks to Sue, Barry (pictured) and Gary for the tour — I stayed twice as long as I intended! 👏

From books and records to household items and memorabilia, the incredible collection gives a real glimpse into how locals lived across the old Shire of Cranbourne.
The whole site is immaculately maintained by passionate volunteers who care deeply about preserving our local history.

I’d encourage anyone to visit. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll leave with an even greater appreciation of our local history.

A talk “The Social History of Mechanics' Institutes” will be presented by Heather Arnold, history enthusiast and formerly Local History Librarian. Heather will speak about the role played for over 180 years by Mechanics' Institutes in buildings from the humble to the splendid. Light refreshments to follow.
