All In: Honouring 50 Years of Deadly in the Spirit of Reconciliation

On Thursday 11th June, SNHN gathered with community partners to celebrate All In: Honouring 50 Years of Deadly in the Spirit of Reconciliation – an event marking Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC for 2026.

Balancing the important need to reflect on the past with the equally important requirement to share joy and celebrate the successes of our First Nations communities, the afternoon was a powerful reminder of how much stronger we are when we come together with a shared purpose.

SNHN would like to warmly thank all the organisations, presenters, performers, volunteers, and community members who contributed their time, resources, expertise, and support to make the event such a success. Your generosity helped create a meaningful and memorable day that strengthened connections, celebrated culture, and honoured the spirit of reconciliation.

Are you of Italian background and interested in learning about advance care planning? Join us on Tues 16th June for a free morning tea and information session (with Italian interpreter present). Advance care planning allows you to make some decisions now about the healthcare you would or would not like to receive if you were to become seriously ill and unable to communicate your preferences or make treatment decisions.

Australia is introducing AusAlert, a new national emergency warning system that will replace SMS-based alerts with faster, location-based messages sent directly to mobile devices. It will be used for incidents including natural disasters, public health emergencies, and biosecurity events.

What to expect:
- Launch on 1 October 2026, with community testing in June and a national test on 27 July 2026
- All compatible devices will receive the national test alert
- Critical alerts will override silent settings and appear on locked screens

The alert tone for critical messages will be loud and intrusive, which may be distressing for people with sensory sensitivities or trauma backgrounds. To reduce impact during the test, devices can be turned off one hour before and kept off for at least one hour after.

This change will help ensure our communities receive timely, direct warnings during emergencies. Thank you for your cooperation.

On the final day of National Reconciliation Week for 2026, we reflect on the fact that reconciliation is not limited to a single week but is in fact a shared responsibility for every Australian to be “all in” for. With this in mind, we would love for community members to join us for a vibrant gathering celebrating 50 years of NAIDOC and the spirit of Reconciliation Week at All In: Honouring 50 Years of Deadly in the Spirit of Reconciliation. This is a chance to come together, connect, and celebrate culture, community, and resilience.
Whether you come with family, friends, or on your own, this is a space where everyone is welcome to learn, reflect, celebrate, and be part of something meaningful.

Do you want to help shape health and social care across Northern Sydney? We’re seeking community members to join our Community Council.

This is a unique opportunity to bring your voice, lived experience, and local insight into meaningful decision-making. We’re looking for individuals who are active in their communities or who have lived experience across areas such as mental health, alcohol and other drugs, su***de prevention, caring roles and more.
