Our combined entity aims to partner with government, property developers and financiers to fund more social and affordable housing, including leveraging COVID-19 stimulus programs, to help ensure more people do not fall into poverty and homelessness. With 6,400 homes, 10,000 residents and over 200 staff, we are committed to delivering services that help people facing housing stress. Using decades of community driven experience, our work engages the full spectrum of housing need from homelessness services, to social, disability and affordable housing.

Last Monday, we were proud to host a smoking ceremony to honour and celebrate a planned extension of Ngarrunga, our women and children’s safety service in the Hawkesbury.

Thanks to funding from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, the service’s extension will add two two-bedroom units, a communal area and an office space, giving Ngarrunga the capacity to house up to 6 women, their children and their pets at one time.

This extension meets increasing local demand for women and children who need domestic and family violence support in the Hawkesbury. While it is a tragedy that the demand is there, we take seriously our responsibility to meet it, and to continue supporting our local people with safe housing and personal care.

Thank you to Melissa Stubbings and Paul Webb from Merana Aboriginal Community Association for the Hawkesbury INC for the beautiful Welcome to Country and for leading the smoking ceremony on this important milestone in the project.

Community Support Hubs are back from this week, and our Penrith Hub is tomorrow! (One week earlier than usual due to the upcoming public holiday.)

Lynne is a proud Dunghutti woman living in the Hawkesbury region who found community housing through Link Wentworth. We’re proud to have Lynne as part of our community and to see the positive impact she makes through her advocacy and volunteering.

She knows the relief of having a safe, warm home and now gives back her time to the community as a volunteer with the Country Women’s Association and Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands.

Lynne joined the Community Made campaign to call on our political leaders to commit to more community housing in the upcoming NSW state election in March 2027.

This week, new NSW domestic and family violence rental reforms have come into effect.

These reforms are designed to help remove some of the barriers victim-survivors can face when seeking safety and housing security.

The changes come at a heartbreaking time. Last weekend, three women were killed in NSW in three separate acts of violence.

Domestic and family violence is a national emergency.

It is not inevitable.
It is not normal.
It can be prevented when communities, services and governments work together.

As football finals season continues, it's important to remember that domestic and family violence incidents can increase during major sporting events. It's a reminder to check in on loved ones and seek support if you need it.
