What does Charters Towers taste like on a plate?
Council is asking the question, and our first thought was a good old corned meat sandwich and let’s not discount the value of a really good one.
There’s the pickle, the mustard, the way the butter is spread just right, the bread choice, and whether you add something extra or keep it classic.
The humble corned meat sandwich deserves a place at the table, we reckon. What do you think Charters Towers on a plate tastes like?
A TASTE OF CHARTERS TOWERS
We need your help to answer a simple question: What does the Charters Towers Region taste like?
As part of the Local Government Association of Queensland's (LGAQ) 130th anniversary celebrations, a special community cookbook, A Shared Table, is being created to showcase the flavours, traditions and stories of communities from across Queensland.
Charters Towers Regional Council has been invited to submit one recipe that reflects our region, and with so many cultures, traditions and talented cooks in our community, we know there are plenty of delicious contenders.
Is it a recipe handed down through generations? A camp oven classic? Something simple made with love? Or a dish reserved for special occasions?

We'll share the entries on our page, and the recipe with the most likes will be considered for submission to represent the Charters Towers Region in "A Shared Table".
The selected recipe will join submissions from local governments across Queensland and feature in a commemorative cookbook gifted to delegates attending this year's LGAQ Annual Conference in Cairns.
This is your chance to put the Charters Towers Region on the table... literally!
