Fire ant bite inflicts lifelong EpiPen reliance THIS POST IS FROM THE FIRE ANT NEWSLETTER. THEIR STORY CAN BE VIEWED ON YOUTUBE; "SUBHA AND ALINA'S STORY"
For Subha and Alina, fire ants were just an occasional annoyance, until a frightening encounter turned their world upside down.
After being stung while taking out the rubbish bins, Subha felt itchy, developed a rash, and lost consciousness multiple times. Paramedics arrived just in time, administering a steroid injection and rushing him to hospital.
Now, he carries an EpiPen everywhere. ‘You don’t want an EpiPen in your life, trust me,’ he warns.
Doctors told Alina that Subha’s next sting could be even worse. ‘I didn’t know fire ants could be this dangerous. If I had, I would’ve done everything to prevent this,’ Alina says.
Severe allergic reactions to fire ant stings can be fatal. Don’t ignore them. If symptoms worsen, call an ambulance immediately.
