So what is a Community? Community is defined as : a group of people living in the same locality. However what it really involves is sharing, participation and fellowship. A true community is a group of people that has learnt to transcend its individual differences for the overall good of the group. It requires a certain degree of commitment. It is self-aware. Community should be a place where people can say “I feel heard and safe here”. Why is ACT Network relevant to our Community? Many community-minded residents are already highly involved in a wide range of local community organisations, eg. schools, churches, sports clubs, neighbourhood houses – the ACT Network is a way to link these residents and organisations together, to share knowledge and form relationships. The ACT Network is helping to create a “united” community voice for the Ashwood & Chadstone Neighbourhood.
