We don’t often use our platform to speak about political matters, but sometimes the decisions being made are simply too important not to share.
The Senate inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 has been extended until 14 August 2026, when the committee is due to report.
The proposed reforms are significant. They include changes to NDIS eligibility, the supports the Scheme funds, planning and funding arrangements, pricing and the powers available to the government and the NDIA.
At ConnectAbility, we believe people with disability must remain at the centre of decisions that affect their lives; with choice, control, dignity, independence and access to the right supports protected.
What can you do❓
If you, your family member, a friend or someone you support relies on the NDIS, please consider taking action:
✔️ Email the Senators who will help decide the Bill’s future.
✔️ Contact your Federal MP and ask them to protect the principles of the NDIS.
✔️ Visit your local MP or Senator’s office.
✔️ Contact Opposition Leader Angus Taylor and ask him to oppose the Bill in its current form and support changes developed with people with disability.
Tell them who you are, where you live, why the NDIS matters to you and what you want protected. Every email, every phone call and every conversation helps ensure decision-makers hear directly from the people who will be affected.
Please stay informed. Please speak up. Every voice matters.
