🔥 Hazard Reduction Burn – Dalmeny | Wednesday 6 May 🔥

The NSW RFS will be undertaking a hazard reduction burn at Dalmeny tomorrow, Wednesday 6 May.

🚒 Firefighters will be working in the area throughout the day.
🌫️ Smoke and fire may be visible from the highway and surrounding areas.

These burns are an important part of reducing fuel loads and lowering bushfire risk across the community.

Please drive to conditions, follow signage, and be mindful of crews working in the area.

Far South Coast Hazard Reduction Update 🔥

Hazard reduction operations will continue tomorrow, with Forestry Corporation of NSW planning to undertake a burn west of Narooma highlighted on the map in yellow.

Previously ignited burns across the district are also still being actively patrolled to ensure they remain safe and within containment lines.

Smoke will be visible across surrounding areas, particularly during the day, and may settle in low-lying areas overnight.

These burns are a critical part of reducing fuel loads and lowering bushfire risk heading into the next fire season.

Residents are asked to:
• Stay informed and monitor conditions
• Close windows and doors if smoke is present
• Drive to conditions, especially in areas of reduced visibility

🔥The Bush Fire Danger Period has ended🔥

Although permits are now not required, you still need to notify the RFS of your intention to undertake pile burns by notifying at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify

💲Penalties apply for failing to notify. 💲

📝Notification still required📝

Even though fire permits are no longer required as we exit the Bush Fire Danger Period, from April 1st you still need to notify via the RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify

You neighbours also need to be notified 24hrs in advance of you lighting your fire.

The end of the bush fire danger period, does not remove your requirement to undertake safe burning. Always check the weather before lighting.

Across the Far South Coast Fire Permits are still required till the end of March.

You can apply at https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp

Don't forget that it is a two step process requiring notification as well as an approved permit.

Failing to obtain a permit or notifying can result fines.
