The Far West Language Centre plays an important role in supporting the revitalisation, preservation, and strengthening of Aboriginal languages across the Far West region, working closely with communities and Elders to keep language and culture strong for future generations.

This exciting position will lead the day-to-day operations of the Language Centre and work alongside Aboriginal community groups and key stakeholders to support language revival and cultural learning initiatives.

Last night our community came together in love, unity and respect to honour and pay tribute to our precious baby girl Kumanjayi. 🩷

Families, Elders, children and community members stood side by side at the Ceduna Foreshore, lighting candles, sharing quiet moments and holding space together during this heartbreaking time.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the vigil and showed support to the family and wider community. Your presence, kindness and respect reminded us all of the strength that comes when community stands together.

We continue to send our deepest condolences, love and prayers to the family, loved ones and all those grieving the loss of baby girl Kumanjayi. 🕯️🩷

“May her spirit rest peacefully in the arms of her ancestors.”

This is a time for us to stand together, reflect, and support one another.

🙏🏽 Please note: While the national vigil is being held on Thursday, we have opted for Friday 8th May to accommodate local football and netball training in Ceduna. As a community, this date allows more of us to come together and stand in support.
