🙏🏽 Last year, Selichot prayers at the Kotel included prayers for the safe return of the 50 hostages still held in Hamas captivity, among them Bar Kupershtein.

A few nights ago, Bar stood at the Kotel for those same prayers, alongside fellow former hostages Omer Shem Tov, Itay Regev, Eliya Cohen and Noa Argamani (all four were already home this time last year).

Selichot are special prayers of reflection and repentance recited in the lead-up to Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Last year, we prayed for their return. This year, they were there to give thanks 💙🇮🇱

💔 Twelve years ago today, four-year-old Daniel Tregerman was killed when a mortar fired by Hamas struck outside his family’s home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz.

Daniel knew what to do when the Red Alert sounded. His mother remembers him reaching the safe room and saying, “Now we’re all safe.”

But that day, there were just three seconds between the siren and the explosion. Daniel never made it to the safe room.

Twelve years later, after everything Nahal Oz has endured since, we remember the beautiful four-year-old whose life was taken far too soon.

May Nahal Oz see brighter days ahead.

We will never forget Daniel Tregerman.

“There has never been a more important time to be a Jewish educator.

Advocacy and security remain necessary. We need governments to confront antisemitism and institutions capable of keeping Jewish Australians safe. We need secure gates around our schools.

But a Jewish community cannot define its future by the forces arrayed against it.

The deepest defence of Jewish life is forming Jews who are literate, confident, curious and connected. Jews who can wrestle with complexity rather than retreat from it. Jews who can carry their identity into the world without fear or apology.”

From the tunnels of Gaza to the chuppah ♥️

Before 7 October, Eliya Cohen, Eli Sharabi, and Alon Ohel were strangers. Kidnapped from different places that morning, they would spend much of their captivity together in Hamas’s tunnels, enduring the unimaginable side by side.

Eli was released after 491 days, Eliya after 505, while Alon remained behind until his release after 738 days.

Last night, they were together again for a very different reason: to celebrate Eliya’s marriage to Ziv Abud ♥️

A bond forged in the darkest of places, now there to share in one of the happiest moments of his life. The ultimate victory over their captors.

Today, 20 August, marks two years since the IDF recovered the bodies of Yagev Buchshtab, Yoram Metzger, Nadav Popplewell, Avraham Munder, Chaim Peri, and Alex Dancyg from a tunnel in Khan Yunis.

All six were kidnapped alive from their homes - Yagev and Nadav from Kibbutz Nirim, and Yoram, Avraham, Chaim, and Alex from Kibbutz Nir Oz - and cruelly murdered in captivity.

Six beautiful souls who all deserved a different ending 💔🎗️
