Mix It Up at Castlemaine State Festival was a celebrated day-long deep dive with Aryo, Zoe, Kirri and Justin of the Seno Ensemble - it was fearless, fun, and full of sonic surprises. Musicians, composers and sound makers came together to improvise, experiment, and push into each other's creative processes. 100% of participants wanted more.

So, back by popular demand we are running it again - this time as a full PROTOtype weekend, two days, experienced artists alongside, space to take risks and actually go somewhere together.

100% of participants from our Mix It Up workshop at Castlemaine State Festival asked for more. So more is what we're doing.

Mix It Up, all musics no limits is back, this time as a full weekend under Punctum's PROTOtype studio program, in partnership with Mount Alexander Shire.

Two days of improvising, experimenting, and making sound together. PROTOtype is a studio booster for your arts practice. This weekend is for anyone who wants to keep exploring improvisation, contemporary composition, and the conversation between traditional musics and new ideas.

On March 28th in the 2026 Castlemaine State Festival the Aryo Seno Ensemble premiered with a unique body of work created over a two-year trajectory with Punctum.

For audience members who’d been with us along the way, it was a celebration and a fulfilment; for those discovering the new ensemble it was “extraordinary” and “sublime”.
