Some experiences are hard to get through work experience. Where we can’t find work experience for students, we create our own.

Minister for Youth Luba Grigorovitch MP saw our custom work experience in action last week, with 5 students from 4 schools working through a design challenge over 5 weeks. The students reported increased confidence and skills, including how to tackle a consulting project, teamwork and leadership.

Fun fact: facilitator Quin Li designed our logo as a participant in a similar program in 2018.

Where can you transition from makeup and heels to high vis and steel cap boots? Find opportunities from HR, marketing, policing and intelligence to horticulture and construction? Hear about careers outside your family and social networks?

100 young women from secondary schools in Brimbank, Melton, Hume and Whittlesea were immersed in a wide variety of career opportunities in and around aviation on Monday in the second ‘Women Inspiring the Next Generation’ (WING) event.

One of our speakers made coffees at the airport through university and returned as a construction management engineer. Another saw women at the check in counters who shared her love for makeup, then over time worked her way into leading a safety team on the tarmac.

Local Learning and Employment Networks Future Connect and Hume Whittlesea Local Learning and Employment Network (HWLLEN) have worked with Melbourne Airport over a couple of years to establish a range of ways for students to connect to employment at Melbourne Airport, including WING.

Collaboration is in our DNA and it’s inspiring seeing the engagement from students across schools and sectors.

Bill Dawson meets lots of talented young people through hosting work experience, Structured Workplace Learning and apprenticeships.

With almost 50% of his team being people he first met through hosting young people, Bill has a stable, supportive and capable workforce. Bill encourages other employers to give young people a chance.

Kudos to Bill Dawson of St Albans Complete Car Care for supporting generations of students at St Alban's Secondary College, the St Alban's students for catering a wonderful breakfast for the school's community partners, and the staff team who support them.

The Victoria University (VU) stand was a popular spot throughout the day at the 2026 Brimbank Careers Exploration Day.

It was fantastic to see so many meaningful conversations happening and students asking thoughtful questions about what comes next after school.

Events like this are all about connection, curiosity and access to information – and it was great to young people in the west explore their opportunities with VU.
