Vigil 6pm tonight at Parliament Steps. Mano was a key organizer of the refugee encampment, a fighter of justice and we need to respond in solidarity with the fight against Labor’s brutal regime to imprison, deport and kill refugees.

This rally is in support of refugees who are camping outside the department of home affairs asking for permanent protection and certainty, to put an end to the 12 years’ of devastating limbo.

Thousands of refugees and people seeking asylum have been stuck in limbo in australia for 12+ years while they wait for permanent protection - as many as 9000.

This limbo is because their claims for protection were never fairly assessed under the racist “Fast Track” system. As a result they live on temporary bridging visas which creates devastating uncertainty:
• The heartache and anxiety of being separated for years from loved ones who are still in danger
• Some have no work rights and no access to Medicare
• Many young people cannot study at university, even though they completed their schooling in australia
• They do not have a safety net - if they cannot work to support themselves they could be at risk of homelessness.

After 12 years, they need peace of mind and security. They need permanent visas.

Daily protests happening at ’s office, demanding for permanent visas for all NOW! They enter their 8th day of protest, as of today.

The Labor government’s white supremacist and racist visa system continues to separate, harm and kill people seeking asylum. Thousands remain trapped on their temporary visas, some for more than a decade.
