Wingless Sprints W.A, AshFuels Carnarvon Speedway unfortunately the rain came in. This is a fantastic country speedway about 9 hours north off Perth. They will host the WA Wingless State Title next year and from what I seen tonight they will host and provide a great track.

This should be another night to remember for all and we will do our best to do some updates through out the day and night. A special mention to Andrew Williams and his wife from Wild & Wingless for coming down to MC the event. Really appreciate it.

I hope you are all doing well. Now that I have had some time to reflect on a hectic few months, I wanted to reach out to share my thoughts on our recent events.

The Australian Championship involved a massive lead-up, beginning with tenders and agreements a year in advance, followed by extensive coordination with the state club and the host track to ensure a successful event in April. This process required numerous meetings to finalize procedures, supplementary regulations, promotion, and the organization of the Calcutta. The preparation remained through to the start of tech and practice, Wade’s promotional work for the AWSR, our drivers, and our teams is a credit to him. the amount of time and dedication is truly amazing.

Once race day arrived, our focus shifted to drivers' briefings and safety protocols, including drug and alcohol testing. The use of MyRacePass significantly streamlined the management of our grids. Throughout the heat races, our team remained diligent in checking arm restraints, safety equipment, tyre compounds, and grid positions. Despite the approaching rain, we successfully completed four excellent preliminaries just before the downpour. While drivers navigated their own unique challenges and setups, the consistent highlight was the superb condition of the track and the efficiency of the night's management.

On the second night, while some drivers excelled, others faced a difficult run of bad luck; notably, we saw an unusually high frequency of coil pack and DFI module issues. Ultimately, the main event was a fantastic Australian Championship. I would like to extend a sincere congratulations to Tyson Martin for an amazing drive to go back-to-back, as well as to Blake Iwanow for finishing second and Travis Armstrong for third. Thank you to the AWSR, the WA state club, and the Perth Motorplex for another well-managed night.

Following the championship, we moved into the Wednesday night show for the Des Nash Race and the WA State Title the following weekend, both of which were also excellently run. The varied track conditions each night tested everyone’s setup strategies. At the Des Nash, Tyler McQuilkin earned his first feature win—a significant victory with a $10,550 prize—followed by Blake Walsh in second and Darren Humfrey in third. Finally, during the two-night WA Title show, Tyson Martin took another state title win, with Todd Moule in second and Tyler McQuilkin in third.

I would like to sincerely thank all the teams that competed in these events for your time and commitment. Whether you faced trying times or moments of jubilation, the sense of camaraderie and willingness to help others was clearly evident. I also thoroughly enjoyed the open pits and seeing families and children enjoying their time with the drivers and teams.

Specifically, I would like to thank the following people and groups for their contributions:

- The WA Wingless Club, especially Paige, for your constant support and assistance.
- Wade, for your dedicated work on driver profiles and team promotion.
- Gavin, Veronica, and the entire team at the Perth Motorplex for providing a fantastic venue.
- Scott from MyRacePass for the ease of managing grids and information.
- Glenn from Only Foods and Sauces for the excellent Calcutta food and service.
- All the AWSR executives, committee members, and tech staff for your hard work.
- Thankyou to Jim Hordiewicz, Guy Millar for doing the Australian Title Engine dismantle and detailed checks along with myself on the Sunday after the WA Title.
- The SCCA and Speedway Australia for extra fuel support to the travelling teams due to the unprecedented fuel increase.
- Burson Auto Parts for their Support.
-Daryl Clayden our Grand Marshall for the Australian Championship.
- The West Australian drivers and teams for making me feel so welcome over the last three months.

In closing, I am truly proud to work alongside such a hard-working executive group: Darryl, Scott, Sean, and Rebecca. We are fortunate to have an amazing community of competitors, teams, officials, and families who make our division a benchmark for others.

Best regards,
Peter Granger
AWSR President

Record Win for McQuilkin!

In what was a record setting night, Tyler McQuilkin (McQuilkin Motorsport) has grabbed the biggest victory of his short Wingless Sprint career at the Perth Motorplex, claiming the Des Nash Memorial event. Fittingly, Tyler campaigned the #55 to victory and in the process also won the biggest prize purse ever for Wingless Sprints!

McQuilkin was strong all night, going second quickest in his qualifying group before claiming his heat and the A Dash to start from pole position in the thirty-lap feature race.

McQuilkin and Victorian Travis Millar (Travis Millar - Millar Racing) would start on the front row together, Millar getting the jump and into the lead in the initial start, followed by Daran Humfrey (Humfrey Racing) who came from position four, while McQuilkin settled into third.

Unfortunately Brayden Shute (Shute Racing Team) found himself spinning on the back straight after contact with Jordan Johnson, bunching the field up for a complete restart, while under the yellow lights Australian Champion Tyson Martin (Tyson Martin Racing) retired infield.

Take two saw McQuilkin get a better start than previous, only for Millar to race around the outside of him coming out of turn two. Luke Weel (Luke Weel Racing) moved past Humfrey for third while Brendon Wedge (Wedge Motorsport) would round out the top five.

Shortly after Wedge got by Humfrey, as did Blake Walsh (Blake Walsh Motorsport), but the yellows were out again shortly after as Todd Moule (Moule Motorsport) spun after being unable to avoid Tyson Bryden (Tyson Bryden Motorsports), with Gavin Preen also spinning in the same turn.

Somehow all were able to rejoin the field, but as the field was lining up again Millar also rolled to a stop on the back straight, being pushed to the infield and his race also over.

This would leave McQuilkin to lead away Weel, Wedge, Walsh and Humfrey.

McQuilkin got a ripper of a start, showing the opposition a clean pair of heels as the next four battled in close quarters. Lap after lap he would pull away, the order of the top five not changing.

At the halfway point McQuilkin found himself in heavy lapped traffic, but it did little to slow him down, while Weel and Wedge would go head-to-head for second, Wedge using the traffic to his advantage to get by Weel, the two making slight contact and Weel bouncing off the back straight wall.

With ten to go McQuilkin was well clear while Weel was racing hard to get back under Wedge, which allowed Walsh to stick his nose underneath and grab third. Humfrey then locked onto the back of Weel once again, positions two, three and four swapping a number of times over the next few laps.

Wedge would get stuck behind a lapped car with four laps to go, seeing him go slightly too wide through turn four and allowing Walsh to dive underneath and steal the position.

McQuilkin maintained his lead in the dying couple of laps, but all eyes were on the battle for second, McQuilkin crossing the line over four seconds ahead of Walsh who claimed second while Humfrey got by Wedge to claim the final podium position.

It was another huge night of Wingless Sprint racing at the Perth Motorplex and the best news it, it ain’t over yet! Teams will prepare their cars for two final nights of action, with a huge field of nominations set to contest the WA Wingless Sprint Title this Friday and Saturday nights!

Huge thanks to the Wild & Wingless team of Andrew Williams and all of his guests that have appeared this season so far and in particular into the lead up of the title.

Thanks WnW for you commitment to Wingless Sprint competition and promotion.

The people behind the people...
Huge thank you to the AWSR Executive, Tech and Officials Team for their tireless work over the Burson Auto Parts ASWR Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at the Perth Motorplex.
A huge amount of work goes into the title for months ahead of the actual race weekend.
What you see on the day/night of competition is really only a small piece of a much bigger puzzle.
Over the course of the weekend I got to spend a couple of quiet moments with the AWSR team and even then - away from the track - the conversation was always Wingless and always about improving.
I am very fortunate to work with a number of sanctioning bodies across a wide variety of motorsports on dirt and bitumen and I can honestly say that the AWSR Committee and Associations are as good as any of them.
Congratulations on the smooth running of the title (just the tech side of it alone is huge) and thank you for the passion that each member of the committee both at and away from the track for what they do.
Without a strong AWSR executive and Officials team the sport cannot achieve the lofty goals we shoot for.
Thanks to everyone in the AWSR who contributed so much to the event on behalf of all the race teams.
Wade.
