Scouts Australia - Adult Recognition Awards

On World Scout Day each year, Scouts Australia recognises the dedicated volunteers who make a lasting difference in the lives of young people through Scouting.

We are proud to congratulate the recipients from the Belmont Scout Group

MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD
Adam Gallard (Badger) – Scout Leader

For meritorious or praiseworthy service to Scouts Australia for a period of around six to eight years. ‘Meritorious Service’ is defined as performing to a higher standard for longer or more intensely, than would be reasonably expected.

SILVER WATTLE
Michael Nesbitt (Kaa) - Assist Group Leader, Redlands Specialist Activity Centre. Former Belmont Assistant Cub Leader, Cub Leader and Assistant Venturer Leader)

Today is World Scout Day – 1st August

This is a chance for all of us to promote Scouting by wearing your scarf to work, sport, whilst you are out shopping or meeting family and friends.

It is an opportunity to start a conversation about your role in Scouting and encourage others to consider joining this wonderful movement.

A chance to be proud that you are a SCOUT.

Also, an opportunity to thank all the amazing volunteers that make Scouting great. Thank you to all our Leaders, Committee and Parent helpers that volunteer.

Happy Founder’s Day – 22nd Feb

Today, we celebrate the birthday and legacy of the founder of Scouting, Lord Baden-Powell and the incredible impact the Scouting movement has had on millions of lives worldwide.

BP was born in England on 22nd February 1857.

A movement founded on service, adventure, friendship and inclusion and a deep belief in the potential of young people.

Founder’s Day is also a time to renew our commitment to the Scout Promise and Law - to be people of character, courage, compassion and hope.

Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony – Monday 26th January 2026

Today five Cubs and Scouts were flag bearers at the local Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, run by the Camp Hill Carindale Lions Club at the Belmont Bowls Services Club (next to the Carina Police Station and opposite Carindale PCYC.)

Fifty new Australia were awarded Australian citizenship.
It was an honour and privilege for our Scout Group to be invited to contribute to the ceremony with flag bearers for the opening and closing procession.

Our flag bearers had the opportunity to see the citizenship ceremony and made valuable contribution to a special day for the new Australian citizens.

Local members were in attendance, Lisa Atwood (Councillor for the Doboy ward), Ryan Murphy (Councillor for the Chandler ward) Steve Minnikin (State MP for Chatsworth) and Renee Coffey (Federal MP for Griffith)
